Victorian-era hand-illustrated covers comprising 1873 1d pink Envelopes x2 from Wolverhampton, of Macbeth or Mr Micawber (?), both of fine appearance; 1874 d Postal Card from the same correspondent to "Ye Ladye Fayre with Golden Hair" with giddy poem & illustration, two vertical folds hardly affect the 'view' side, a very early 'Picture Postcard'; plus seven other items in various states of decrepitude. 1869 mourning cover to NSW with very fine 1867-80 10d red-brown SG 112 Plate '1' with wing-margin tied by very fine 'ST ANDREWS/JU15/69 - 300' Scottish duplex, London transit b/s of the next day, a couple of minor defects clear of the stamp, Cat 850. Terrific item for the Golf enthusiast.

1873 mourning cover with Chalon 1d brown x2 struck with fine '032' cancels & very fine 'NZ/KAWARAU/SP16/73' cds alongside (Wooders rated 7), to "Moke Creek PO/Wakatipu", large-part 'QUEENSTOWN' transit cds on the face, minor soiling & part of the flap missing. A rare domestic cover between two inland settlements on the South Island. Kawarau (Otago) renamed from Kawarau Junction 1.11.1864; renamed Cromwell 21.10.1873. [Alluvial goldmining. Kawarau also claims to be the world's first commercial bungy jumping centre. Moke Creek is known for gold & copper mining]

[Clermont is almost 1000km NW of Brisbane, inland from Rockhampton. Sydney's Bourke Street PO 1.6.1859; replaced by Surry Hills (2) 15.9.1883]
