1929 Centenary of Western Australia 1d Swan Imperforate at the Base ACSC #138b, well centred, characteristic rough perfs, a little oxidised, very lightly mounted, Cat $20,000. One of the most desirable errors of the KGV Period Commemoratives. The ACSC states that two pairs and two singles - all from the same sheet - exist. This is position [78].

1952 airmail cover to Lancashire with Platypus 9d pair tied by 'RAAF PO/3JA52/COCOS ISLAND' cds, minor opening tears, addressee's (?) endorsement on flap "From J Clunies Ross", AAMC #1288c. [On 1.1.1952, an airman suffered a fractured skull when struck by the winch handle of a landing barge. A 'Lincoln' bomber was sent from RAAF Pearce (WA) to airlift him to the mainland. Only four covers were believed carried on what was the first mail from the RAAF PO. NB: the first official mail was dated 31JA52, almost a month later. Colin Riddell's three Mercy Flight covers sold for $2446 (to Perth with flight endorsement), $8737 (to Tatts in Hobart with 'RAAF/SERVICE' h/s) and $815 (to GB with Administrator's cachet) respectively]
