1948 cover to "AMartin/Macquarie Is/co Antarctic Expedition" from the first mail out of Heard Island (cds of 25DE47), signed "Stuart Campbell" at lower-right (not contemporary). Rare "internal" mail. Ex Kevin Dwyer. [There was no direct mail between the two Bases. The cover travelled on "LST 3501" to Melbourne, then on the first ship to Macquarie Island (arrival cds of 7MR48; Opening Day)]
