1931 Kingsford Smith 2d red & 3d blue overprinted 'OS', well centred, unmounted, Cat $1175. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2009) for the 3d.
1931 Airmail 6d perforated colour trial in dull grey-green on gummed unwatermarked paper, well centred, small patch of gum-toning. Previously unrecorded. [Research by Dr Geoff Kellow reveals that at least three colour trials in different colours were prepared. However, the official file is incomplete so we are unable to confirm if this item was one of the three proofs mentioned]
1934 Hermes No Wmk 1/6d gutter block of 6 (2x3), unmounted, Cat $750+ for singles.

Useful selection with 7d to Forces Overseas unused & correctly used to an airman in London, 7d 'AIR LETTER' to USA (no service at this time) & to UK both with red/yellow Sydney censor label, 7d 'AIRLETTER' uprated to 10d to USA, 1954 usage of 10d to Pakistan with Singapore crash cachet, 1965 Christmas with 'SPECIMEN' handstamp in violet, etc; and OHMS 1952 to New Zealand & with 'Postage/Paid' Misplaced to Right with 'SPECIMEN' Handstamp, 1962 to USA with 'PMG OFFICIAL PAID/MELBOURNE' d/s, etc, mostly fine to very fine.
C of A - Postal History
1929 (Aug 12) catalogue envelope (247x177mm) for Joseph Charles by air to Tasmania with scarce franking of Small Multiple Wmk 1/- Roo & KGV 1/4d pair plus 3d Airmail (fault) tied by Perth Krag machine cancel, 'ST HELENS/19AU29/TASMANIA' arrival b/s, folds clear of the stamps. The 1/4d is rare on domestic mail. [Sent as Printed Matter, the rate was 1d per 4oz x2 + airmail supplement of 3d per ½oz x15 = 47d for an article weighing between 7½ & 8oz. At the time, the final leg Melbourne-Launceston was by sea]
PARAGUAY: 1994 Paraguayan Red Cross 500g Ambulance & Macaw with Cross in Black tied by rubber cds of 20DIC1994 in violet to a registered airmail cover to Argentina (poor arrival b/s).

1922-37 group comprising 1922 War Orphans Surcharges; 1925 PIPEX M/S CTO at Exhibition on First Day of Issue, hInged at the corners the stamps pristine unmounted; 1936 Airs 50fr green; "Banknote" 50fr (tiny thin); South America Flight 10fr (minor crayon mark on the face); and 1937 PEXIP M/S CTO at Exhibition on First Day of Issue (no gum); Cat £3500+.

1932-34 Undated Birds 2d 3d 5d 6d & 2/- to £1, 1939 Bulolo 5d & £1, all in horizontal pairs, Cat £760+.
1939 Bulolo Airs 4d 5d and 1/- to £1 SG 217 218 & 221-5 blocks of 4, some minor staining/aging consistent with having been removed from bullion tags, all with 'BULOLO' cds of various dates, Cat £3400+ as single sets. Used blocks are rare.

NEW GUINEA - Postal History
1935 (Mar 15) gold bullion parcel tag with rare and remarkable franking of Undated Airs 3d, 2/- marginal pair, 5/- & £1 block of 6 (the fourth unit damaged when affixed; the right-hand block of 4 is very fine) affixed to both sides & tied by 'WAU' cds. Ex Tom Frommer: acquired at Mossgreen on 4.4.2017 for $1800.
1935 (Nov 18) gold bullion parcel tag with rare and remarkable franking of Silver Jubilee 1d, Undated Airs 5/- & Bulolo £5 emerald tied by 'WAU' cds, registration cachet on the reverse, remarkably fine for such an item. Ex Tom Frommer: acquired at Mossgreen on 4.4.2017 for $3840. [The rate was 2d per 1oz letter rate x157 + 3d per ½oz airmail surcharge x314 + 3d registration + 2d late fee for registered articles = £5/5/1d. The only other £5 franking known to us is a similar large-part tag franked £5/4/3d Ex Ken Kutz, the current whereabouts of which is unknown]
1939 (Jan 13) commercial "all-up" airmail cover to Germany with Undated Birds 1/- & Undated Airs 9d tied by 'WAU' cds, transit b/s of 'SALAMAUA' & 'TOWNSVILLE' (where it connected with the Qantas service to Europe).
PAPUA - 1901-1942 The BNG & Papua Stamps Period
1916-32 Bicolours extensive duplicated collection on Hagners with an array of shades to 2/6d mint x27 & used x9, 5/- mint x16 & used x8 and 10/- mint x13 & used x15, also 'AIR MAIL' 3d SG 113 used x2, Aeroplane Overprint 1/- with Deep Carmine Overprint mint x4 (all toned), Surcharges, 1932 values with used 9d x2 & 1/3d x2, 'OS' Punctures mint including 1d block of 4, 2d x2, 6d x5 including a corner block of 4 & 1/- x3, and 'OS' Overprints mint with 9d x5, 1/3d x5 & 2/6d x3, etc, condition variable but generally fine to very fine &/or of very fine appearance, STC £15,000+ (2015). 1929-30 'AIR MAIL' Overprints duplicated array on mostly philatelic covers but with a few commercial items noted, the stamps identified as including Harrison Printing SG 113 x63! (Cat £4725 as single stamps) & with plate positions noted, a few flown from Australia or USA to Port Moresby with Papuan 3d added for air connection to New Guinea, & one registered from 'EDIE CREEK' (NG) with Papuan 3d tied by 'POST OFFICE/WAU' cds, the condition is very mixed with many showing significant aging; plus two marvellous & very fine real photo PPCs of Ray Parer & his plane at Darwin. 1939-41 airmail covers 1) from Samarai x3 with complete strikes of the large 'PASSED BY CENSOR/...Asst Censor' cachets both to GB with Pictorials 6d & 1/- or Airmails 5d & 1/- (underpaid 1d but not taxed) or Declaration 3d & Coronation 5d x3 unusually also with red/white label; 2) from Port Moresby x2 with red/white 'OPENED BY CENSOR' labels, domestic airmail to Queensland with 5d Pictorial or to GB - repaired central opening tear - with Airs 3d pair & 1/-; and 3) to Tasmania with 5d Air & scarce Hobart 6 Dots censor label tied by ' 6 / PASSED/BY/CENSOR/ 1 ' cachet in red; condition variable.
1940 (Sep 14) airmail cover to Los Angeles at the 4/- Clipper rate with Pictorials 1d 1/3d & 2/6d plus 1939 Airs 2d & 3d paying 4/- rate + 3d registration, characteristic partial boxed Censor h/s, transit b/s of Townsville, Brisbane, Sydney, Honolulu & San Francisco.
