1940 (June 25) cover to Scotland "Via USA" with QM 1d green, KGVI 3d blue Die II, 5d Ram x3, 6d Kookaburra x3 and 1/- Lyrebird x3 - paying 6/5d + 1d late fee - tied by Sydney cds, red/white 'OPENED BY CENSOR/ .. Most attractive.

On 25/6/1940 - the date this cover was posted - a 6/5d airmail rate via Hong Kong and across the Pacific was introduced. Commercial First Day Covers for any rate are rarely seen, and this is the only 6/5d example we know of. [** This lot is in the wrong section. It should be under "5.9.139 to 9.12.1941 Reversion to pre All-Up Rates" with Lots 1141-1144. We apologise for this unfortunate error **]
