TERRITORIES:Photographic Essays by Peter Morriss including PNG 1965 United Nations composite piece with 5d value (similar to issued 6d) and three different 2/3d values side-by-side (two of which are similar to the issued 1/- & 2/- values; the other an unadopted design) and Nauru 1965 Pictorials 3/3d Bird similar to issued stamp but with different inscription format, also PNG, Nauru and Christmas Island 1950s-60s FDCs autographed PE Morriss and issued stamps mounted on pages signed by him, fine condition. ESSAYS:Original artwork by Donald Cameron for QEII definitive issues including Queen's head in ink & china white (166x121mm) dated "DJC '54" and autographed similar to 1957 7½d violet (die engraved by him in late 1954), another in ink & china white (166x74mm) autographed and endorsed "sublimation" similar to 1959 3d green, also pen & ink drawing (210x126mm) of child for 1957 Christmas issue, plus some matching stamps, FDCs and Christmas cards signed by him.

ESSAYS:photographic reductions of essays by Donald Cameron of unadopted designs including for 1960 NT Exploration, 1962 Christmas, 1963 Cable (4 different very similar to issued stamp but inscribed 'COMPAC' with 5d denomination) and 1964 Airmail Anniversary pair, then five designs for an unadopted 2d stamp featuring Australian Rules Football, Bottle Tree, Aborigine, Industry or Coral Pool Fish (with and without denomination) mounted on pages autographed by him, also pen & ink drawing (129x193mm) of 4d Polar Bear "stamp", etc, plus page of eight 1981 APEX 22c un-adopted designs, fine condition. AUTOGRAPHED FIRST DAY COVERS:1960s Pre-Decimals on APO Hermes, Royal & WCS covers autographed by the relevant stamp engravers "PE Morriss" or "Bruce Stewart" including 1964 Airmail pair also signed by artist "Kevin McKay", plus 1969 Flight Anniversary x2 signed "HN Wrigley" who flew to Darwin in early-1920 to meet Ross & Keith Smith, many unaddressed.

1929usage of KGV Oval 4½d Registration Envelope to England with 'HAY/NSW' (?) cds obscured by added GB PUC 1½d x3 with commercial perfins & tied by oval 'REGISTERED/VICTORIA ST BO SW1' d/s & with 'London SW3' registration label, endorsed on the face "Per favour/Southern Cross/Australia-/England/many many thanks" & signed "OK/CTPUlm", minor blemishes: see AAMC #142, Cat $2750. Only 12 carried. [With two-page social letter that mentions a personal connection to Charles Kingsford Smith]

1929(Dec 10) advice on Australian National Airways Ltd letterhead regarding issue of shares, signed "RE Ludovici/ Secretary", with the accompanying Certificate #110 for 100 shares (274x202mm) with large 'CONTRIBUTING SHARES' h/s in magenta and signed by Ludovici, "CKingsford Smith" & "CTP Ulm", embossed with NSW Stamp Duty 6d. A marvellous item that would enhance the finest of airmail - or revenue - collections.

1934(Oct 21) Brisbane-San Francisco AAMC #455 Trans-Pacific flight via Fiji and Honolulu per Sir Charles Kingsford Smith & PG Taylor in 'Lady Southern Cross' , Fiji KGV 3d tied by Suva cds & US NRA 3c tied by Honolulu d/s, Los Angeles b/s, signed "CKingsford Smith", a couple of very minor blemishes, Cat $3250.
VICTORIA - Postal History
Post Office ephemera including a series of twenty clippings re takings at the GPO in January 1850 (Ex Purves) that prove that the Half-Lengths - available at the GPO from 1.1.1850 - were actually not sold until 3.1.1850; also three pieces signed "A McCrae" as Chief Postmaster of Victoria (1851-53) & as Postmaster-General (1854-1857), four Government Gazette extracts re postal matters & defective 1852 'REGISTERED LETTER' receipt.

GREAT BRITAIN - Postal History
EPHEMERA: Collection of autographs mostly 1830s Free Franks on fronts or pieces affixed in three old albums with many notable personages including "Victoria R", "Robt Peel" (PM), "Charles James Fox", "Rowland Hill" (piece) & "Victor Hugo" x7 (pieces), many from peers with abbreviated signatures including "Palmerston" x3, "Norfolk", "Melbourne", "Granville", "Queensberry" (piece) & "Sandwich" plus a brief letter signed "Wellington", etc. The third album is annotated with details of titles/lineage/political affiliation again with numerous peers including "Somerset", "Wellington", "Abergavenny", "St Vincent", "Cardigan" & "Churchill". The condition is rather mixed with most stuck in place & the albums showing their age. A fascinating lot crying out for re-mounting and research.
1925 'Grand Military/Searchlight Tattoo' leaflet (176x252mm) with 'DELIVERED BY AIR OVER CALCUTTA/ 31DEC25/10AM' cachet & endorsed "Certified genuine autographed copy". Only 12 copies were signed.

AEROPHILATELY:1932-39 comprising 1932 AAMC #P51 with 'REGISTERED/KOKODA, PAPUA' cachet, #P86/7 x3 including two registered one signed "O Denny" on face, 1935 RAAF Southampton Flying Boat items #P89X unlisted Port Moresby-Daru intermediate, #P89 Daru-Port Moresby intermediate signed "AE Hempel OIC" , #P90 & 90a both similarly signed plus #P90X Port Moresby-Darwin-England cover stated to be one of only four carried onwards to the UK & postcard-size photo of three "Southamptons" in flight, 1936 Melbourne Cup flight #P108 x2 one signed "Tommy O'Dea Pilot" plus #P108a carried on to England, also 1939 (Jan 15) "Guba" Port Moresby-Samarai #P141aX unlisted stated to carry "a party to Samarai, returning next morning, and also taking a small mail." (AAMC lists only a Hollandia flight; Cat $1750), fine condition, Cat $3300 + three unlisted items.

AEROPHILATELY:Two folios of mostly Papuan and some New Guinea covers with a few better usages, various flights including covers signed by pilots, 1938 two real photo PPCs of arrival of Carpenter's plane (one with former Prime Minister Billy Hughes in the foregound), etc, condition variable.
AEROPHILATELY:1935 (Sep 27) Port Moresby-Darwin AAMC #P90 with 2d Bird & 6d Air Mail manuscript cancelled "A11-1/Port Moresby/28-9-35/[signature]" overstruck with 'DARU/ 28SE35/PAPUA' cds, Darwin b/s of 27NO35, vertical fold & minor blemishes. An enigma. [The AAMC states Hempel departed Moresby 27/9/1935 but this cover suggests he left a day later. Why two months to reach Darwin?]
