C of A - Postal History
Group including 1915 Sydney postcard wallet with KGV 1d red x2, 1923 to UK with KGV 2d and boxed 'DAMAGED BY IMMERSION/IN SEA WATER IS' h/s, 1925 registered with large red 'DARWIN' label, 1938 with 'GEELONG CENTENARY' cinderella, 1941 POW postcard airmail to England, STO envelopes for Brooke's Coffee (illustrated) and Australian Glass, also batch of Pre-Decimal FDCs and commemorative covers with range of cachets, etc, condition generally fine.
NEW SOUTH WALES - Postal History
1855(Oct 2) entire to Bathurst with marvellous endorsement "Per Clipper Ship/Schomberg from/Liverpool Octr 5 1855", the stamp (an Embossed 1/-) washed-off but the Exeter datestamp largely remains as evidence of the date of posting, Liverpool & Sydney transits and unframed 'BATHURST/JA*2/1856/NSW' arrival b/s, minor blemishes. Ex George Molnar & Floyd Risvold. [One of the most highly prized of the early Australian wrecks. Brian Peace at pages 62-64 (2013) illustrates all five of the recorded "Schomberg" covers, of which this is his #4]
A-Z mostly usedin 16 albums noted larger ranges of China with 1979 Games M/S & Emblems M/S *, Germany, GB with QV to 10/-, KEVII to 10/- plus 1936 "City of Khartoum" crash cover to Sydney with explanatory leaflet, India, New Zealand, USA etc, plus duplicates in envelopes.
GILBERT & ELLICE ISLANDS
WRECK MAIL:1908 Union Line RMS 'Manuka' steamship PPC with message from survivor of the SS "Aeon" wreck rescued from the Gilbert & Ellice Islands with message "Relieved by this ship from Xmas Island on Sept 24th 1908, love from Norton" sent to Australia with KGV 1d red tied 'SUVA/1/OCT/08' cds, endorsed "when Norton was wrecked" by recipient. [The "Aeon" ran aground on Christmas Island on 18.7.1908]

NEW ZEALAND - Postal History
1918British OHMS cover to "NZEF Headquarters/London" with 'NZ MTD FIELD AMBULANCE' h/s & superb 'ARMY POST OFFICE/22MR18/SZ 32' "skeleton" cds used at Bir Salem, superb strike of the defective 'DAMAGED BY IMMERSION/IN SEA WATER I.S.' h/s (variant held together by two rubber bands!) applied at London, some immersion faults but remarkably fine & attractive. Ex Gordon Darge. [Carried per SS "Kingstonian" which, on 11/4/1918, was torpedoed by German submarine U68]
PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Issued Stamps
1947(Jan 8) Rabaul-Sydney flight cover with the black & blue Qantas label & signed by the pilot "J Bonnington"; also plain typed cover Port Moresby-Rabaul AAMC #P165 with cds of "16JA47" & Rabaul arrival b/s of 17JA47, plus the similar Sydney-Rabaul label (pristine, unmounted). Ex John McNabb: sold at the Prestige auction of 12.10.2012 for $862. [The entire Sydney-Rabaul mail disappeared. Unused vignettes are the only survivors of the flight to Port Moresby. The Port Moresby-Rabaul cover is the only recorded proving cover for the inwards flight. #P165 is not priced & this intermediate is not even listed]
