REGISTRATION ENVELOPES:KGV to QEII issues all used the majority from Victoria with a range of label types including provisionals, 1938 KGV 5d endorsed "Comp 4d" with KGV 4d added to pay compensation fee, some postmark interest noted 1935 'TPO 1 SOUTH/1/NSW' transit & 1956 'EASTERN VIEW/VIC' cds with typed label, also 1917 'RETURNED REGISTERED LETTER' from Melbourne Dead Letter Office & 1930 'RETURNED SURCHARGED LETTER' from Sydney with Dues, condition mixed but many fine. 1862entire to "Nuccaleena" with Rouletted 1d SG 19 horizontal pair (a couple of faults), Port Augusta cds, postmaster's manuscript endorsement "PO/Blinman/Nov 21 1862" on the reverse, unclaimed & returned via 'KANYAKA' (b/s) to the GPO (b/s) where presumably the 'UNCLAIMED' h/s was applied. Ex Michael Blake. Blinman PO opened 1/9/1862: ten weeks later the post office "furniture" had apparently still not arrived. A PO opened at Nuccaleena in early-1864 but closed -/9/1866.

BOER WAR:1900 (May) cover to a soldier with the 2nd Queensland Contingent during the Boer War with 2d x3 tied by 'R'-in-oval cancels & 'REGISTERED/BRISBANE' cds alongside, Durban transit of 26JU/00 & Capetown arrival b/s of 30JU00, British 'ARMY BASE/AU10/00/CAPETOWN' b/s in red, boxed 'GONE - NO ADDRESS' h/s in violet & endorsed "Returned/to Australia", a little soiled. [Mail to the Australian troops during the Boer War is extremely elusive. This is the first example we have seen from Queensland, and only the second registered cover from any of the Colonies]
