C of A KANGAROOS - 1st Watermark
½d green & 1d red tied to 1d Kangaroo Die II Letter Card 'THE TWO BROTHERS/QUEENSLAND' by two strikes of the recut 'CARLTON/VICTORIA - 538' duplex of JA14/13, the cancel on the ½d with the datehead off the card but the 1d clearly dated, the message within is headed "Brunswick 13 Januar 1913" & states - translated from German - "...This is all of the new stamps that have been issued so far", the card with some 'suntanning' mostly on the reverse, Cat $17,500 as a First Day Cover of the Halfpenny Kangaroo. An important recent discovery. [Our vendor has requested that we offer this item at what we consider to be a VERY conservative estimate]

1854-60 Imperf Small Diadems2d pale blue with Major Retouch SG 112a [24, extensive work on the background & elsewhere], margins close to good except where just touched at upper-right, tied to 1859 outer to Molong by superb Sydney 'OC27/1859' duplex, central filing fold well clear of the stamp & postmark, Cat £450 x3+. An extremely rare & desirable franking of one of the most extensively retouched units.

1863OHMS cover with Surveyor-General's Office imprint at lower-left, scarce internal solo franking of Perf 13 8d red-orange SG 167a tied by very fine Sydney duplex, to Glebe but with no arrival b/s, vertical fold & minor aging at the base. ['O S' Overprints were introduced only in 1879]
1864(Feb 20) cover to Scotland "Via Marseilles" with a really attractive franking of Perf 13 5d bright blue-green pair tied by very fine Sydney duplex, very fine Glasgow arrival b/s of AP13/64, very minor blemishes. Ex Alvarado.
1888(Jan 12) Staehelin & Co advertising cover to Switzerland "Pr P&O steamer Britania via Brindisi" with DLR 1d & Diadems 8d tied by Sydney duplex, Swiss 'AMBULANT/No + 26' TPO transit b/s & very fine 'NEBIKON' arrival b/s.
1892(Apr 7) use of 3d Registration Envelope to Cyprus with Allegorical 2½d tied by very fine 'THE EXCHANGE' duplex, Suez & Alexandria transits & 'LARNACA/MY17/92/CYPRUS' transit b/s. A scarce destination.

Royal Mail Steam Ship:'RMSS/ V /DC26/63/HOBSONS BAY - VICTORIA' duplex three good to fine strikes on Netted Corners 1d pair, Redrawn 6d black and 1/- Octagonal on part-entire to England with 'LONDON-WC/ FE12/64/PAID' arrival cds in red. Only eight covers, across the two types, have been recorded.
