1931 apparently commercial cover to England per KLM to Batavia with special flight cachet in violet, with KGV 4d olive + Roos 9d pair & 5/- tied by Caboolture (Qld) cds, endorsed "Not over 1oz" & "6/10" which is the rate paid, flap missing & minor blemishes. [The AAMC states the rate to GB was 3/6d per ½oz but Breckon - "Philately from Australia" (Sep 2007) states it was 3/4d. We suggest both are correct: it was 3/6d for the first ½oz, & 3/4d for each subsequent ½oz]

VICHY: 1940 (June) flapless registered cover to the French Ambassador in Japan with 3fr x3 & 20fr Saint Malo tied by Cannes cds, Hong Kong transit b/s of 27SE/40, superb 'TR' h/s in violet & 'PASSED CENSOR/ 5 /HONG KONG' h/s in violet on the face. Rare westbound Trans-Pacific cover. [The rail route to Palestine & KLM from Lydda did not operate until September 1940 & the French had no access to the "Horseshoe" Route - & there is no South African censorship - so the cover must have been carried across the Atlantic. The United States Postal Convention was not ratified by Hong Kong until June 1940 & by France until late-July or early-August 1940, the cover being delayed as a consequence]
