1913 cover to Windsor (Vic) with Kangaroo 1d Die I tied by Melbourne Krag machine cancel of 4JAN13, being the first day of issue in Victoria. [The 1d Roo was first issued in Sydney 2/1/1913. On page 2/19 the ACSC confirms that the FDI in Melbourne was 4/1/1913. However, unlike the 1d Engraved - which had three separate issue dates in the various States & which is given separate prices for two of them - a price is given only for the Sydney covers, BW #2y, Cat $12,500. The ACSC states "There are at least 11 (Sydney) covers recorded": an example sold for $9200 at our auction of 1/9/2007 and Arthur Gray's cover sold for $US9775 (then =$A13,576) also in 2007]
