PRE-KANGAROO ESSAYS: Vaughan-like perforated "essays" inscribed 'STATE OF/QUEENSLAND' of Queen Alexandra 1½d dull purple, 2½d slate-blue horizontal pair & 10/- pale rose, and KEVII 5d dull orange & 9d dull purple, all on gummed unwatermarked paper Perf 13, a few minor blemishes. A very interesting group of apparently contemporary fakes. [The genuine essays by Queensland Government Printer GA Vaughan were Perf 12. Of the denominations represented here, only the 5d - of a different design - is recorded in the ACSC]

1902-04 Filled/Completed Tablet 10/- dull green BW #D50 (SG D43), well centred, faked cds. [The ACSC states "Collectors should beware of stamps purporting to be postally used and bearing non-contemporary cancellations". Martin West's example with non-contemporary cds sold for £456]

Faked envelope with genuine oval 'POST OFFICE/[crown]/NORTHAM/WESTERN AUSTRALIA' h/s & Penny Black pair that doesn't belong, 1897 cover to GB with 'TPO EASTERN GOLDFIELDS' b/s, 1901 stampless cover with scarce 'PAID/PERTH' cds, 1897 cover with light 'GINGIN' cds in red, 1910 registered to Germany with 9d & red/white Fremantle registration label (very fine), five WA PPCs, etc, condition rather mixed.
