CLYDESDALE BANK 1996-97 £5 £10 £20 £50 & £100 signature 'Fred Goodwin, Chief Executive', Pick #218c, 226a, 221b, 225a & 223, framed recessed mounted (410mm x 650mm) displaying a set of fronts and backs of each note, obverse facing serials £5 'R/B 0001082', £10 'A/AB 000181', £20 'F/BB 750081', £50 'A/CA 000051', £100 'A/AA 000481', uncirculated but affixed to backing paper with (undetermined) adhesive.
Specially requested (presumably from the printers) by Fred Goodwin to celebrate his signature appearing on all five Clydesdale Bank note denominations. At least ten sets were produced and presented to each of the Executive Management Committee. Interestingly the notes are not perfectly cut. In 2008 whilst at the helm the Royal Bank of Scotland posted a loss of £24.1 billion, the largest corporate loss in UK history. It later emerged that Goodwin had no technical bank training and no formal banking qualifications. Goodwin was later stripped of his OBE.
