Sugarloaf: 'SUGARLOAF' very fine strike (RRRRR - the only recorded example) on 1874 (Feb 8) cover to "Shatland" (= Shetland islands) with 3d brown pair tied by Rays '169' (rated RRRR on Chalons) of and 2d x2 tied by bold 'REGISTERED/SUGARLOAF' h/s (RRRRR), superb GB markings of oval London transit d/s of 3MY74, 'ABERDEEN' & 'LERWICK' arrival b/s, minor blemishes. An outstanding destination: Lerwick is the main port of the Shetlands, some 120km NE of the mainland. PO 1.1.1873. Ex Alan Griffiths.
