1945-54 Flights accumulation noted 1945 first civilian service to Singapore by Flying Boat 'Coriolanus' (AAMC #1009) and Ceylon-Sydney by Liberator (#1017), 1946 KGVI 7d 'AIRLETTER' overprinted '.../RE-OPENING/ AUSTRALIA-ENGLAND/EMPIRE AIR ROUTE/...' in violet to Singapore (#1036a), Great Britain KGVI 6d aerogramme for Kangaroo Route opening (#1039b), 1947 Norfolk Island-Sydney and Japan pair including 'BCOF' overprint, 1949 Hong Kong pair one with combination franking, 1952 South Africa & 1954 North America flights including intermediates, many with QANTAS labels & pilot-signed, also 1951 Lae-Tarawa-Lae (#P198), 1952 BOAC Comet flights with intermediates & 1953 TEAL Tonga flights, some duplication and a couple with minor blemishes but overall fine condition, Cat $4000+.
Pacific Islands airmail covers with Fiji 1930 Suva-Lautoka & Labasa-Suva x3 different, 1933 Suva-Lautoka and return & Suva-Taveuni, 1941 group of TEAL/PanAm covers including one with KGVI 5d 'Blue Canes', 1939 Fiji-Tonga per Flying Boat 'Aotearoa' signed pilot "JW Burgess" also 1927 registered surface mail to Canada with KGV 3d block of 4, Gilbert & Ellice Islands 1948 registered first airmail service Ocean Island-Australia, Tonga 1941 first airmail to Fiji x2 including one signed "DW Naird" with 'Passed by Censor/9' cachet plus 1930s 'Tin Can Mail' x11 including two postcards, then range of 1960s-70s flight covers with some French Pacific also.
Pacific Islands covers 1900s-1980s including Cocos 1975 airmail to Switzerland, Cooks 1965 Matson Lines airmail to Australia, Fiji with airmails, taxed and 1955 KGVI 5d x2 registered to Australia, Norfolk Island including Bird $1 overprint on 1973 registered airmail to Germany, Tokelau 1951 airmail to UK, Tonga 1907 postcard (creased) to Australia & some 1970s free-form self-adhesives, Samoa with values to 2/-, Tahiti 1921 to Australia, New Caledonia 1943 censored airmail, New Hebrides 1955 with 'NOUMEA' straight-line h/s, generally fine.
GILBERT & ELLICE ISLANDS
1948 (Nov 4) cover from England curiously addressed "Caroline Island/Gilbert & Ellice Island Colony" with Tarawa arrival b/s of 2JU/49, months later returned to Honolulu with arrival b/s of DEC/24/1949, 'HONOLULU, HAWAII/JAN/24/1950/DEAD LETTER BRANCH' b/s in purple plus 'REBUTS' & 'RETOUR' h/s in the same ink, British (?) 'RETURNED TO SENDER/SERVICE INTERRUPTED' & endorsed on reverse "Received back 7.3.50". [There was a series of typhoons in 1949 & we expect they impacted on mail to the Carolines]

WORLD WAR II CENSORSHIP: Mostly philatelic covers with unnumbered boxed cachets including to NZ with very worn '.../PO/ONOTOA' cancel & mss "2d/Postage/Due" and underpaid to BWI with Caymans 3d tied by 'T'-in-circle & 'CAYMAN BRAC' arrival b/s; and numbered cachets '.../No 1' used at Fanning, '.../No 5' used at Tarawa, and '.../No 6' used at Tarawa to NZ (commercial), etc. Ex Neil Russell.
