1931-40 commercial airmail covers with Kangaroo frankings comprising 1931 to UK with 9d single; 1933 to Germany with 1/- single; 1936 to Germany with 2/- tied 'LATE FEE/SYDNEY...'; 1937 to UK with 5/- plus 1/- Lyrebird; 1938 to Netherlands Indies with 9d single; 1938 to Austria "Germany" (post-Anschluss) with 2/- single; 1939 to Yugoslavia with 2/- and Greek currency censor; and 1940 to USA with 2/- x2 at 4/8d PanAm Clipper rate & Hong Kong triangular censor cachet; a few blemishes but generally fine. 1937 (Apr 16) Buttons Ltd cover Sydney to Austria with Kangaroos 2/- maroon solo franking paying 'all-the-way' airmail rate via Athens (b/s) with Greek currency censor cachet on face and '1/1 WIEN 1/29 IV 37 15*/FLUGPOST' b/s, delivered by Vienna pneumatic mail with "102" red crayon route marking, 'TELEGRAPHENAMT WIEN 1/29 IV 37 1540' b/s and 'TA 16 WIEN 102/29 IV 37 1620' Telegraph Office arrival cds on face, couple of minor blemishes. The cover arrived at Vienna airport at 3pm and was delivered before 5pm the same day.

1930-43 covers to foreign destinations including Austria 1933 at 9d rate & 1935 at 2/- with SMult Wmk 2/-; Czechoslovakia 1930 at 8½d; Denmark 1934 at 1/9d + 3d registration; France Jan 1940 at 5/1d; Germany 1932 at 1/9d + registration, 1937 double-rate 1/9d + 1/8d + 1d late fee, 1938 at 2/1d, and 1941 front only at 5/11d with boxed 'PERMISSION/GRANTED' h/s; Greece 1931 at 8d + 3d registration, 1931 at 2/5d + 3d registration and 1934 at 8d with Greek instructional label affixed; Italy 1943 at 1/- POW rate; Lebanon 1936 at 1/8d; Holland 1934 at 8d with Dutch 10c Postage Due; Dutch Indies 1935 at 9d & 9d + 8d double rate; Switzerland 1934 at 2/1d and 1941 at 5/8d x2 to POWs; and a few others, condition variable.
GERMANY: 1935 all-up cover to Germany with Large Kookaburra 6d x3 + KGV 1d tied by 'LATE FEE/MELBOURNE VIC' cds, very fine 'T/33.3c'-in-Octagon h/s of Melbourne converted on arrival to "34"pf with boxed 'Nachgebuhr' h/s (= Postage Due) in red. [An additional 3d stamp affixed to the reverse was overlooked at both ends of the journey]
SWEDEN: 1939 all-up 'Australia-Greece-Sweden' at 2/2d rate + 3d registration with KGV 5d + Kangaroo 2/- tied by 'REGISTERED BRISBANE' cds, Athens transit b/s & Greek currency control h/s on the face.
YUGOSLAVIA: 1936 all-up air to an aluminium factory in Split with Kangaroos 2d + KGV 1d tied by Adelaide 'AIR MAIL/SAVES TIME' slogan, poor Athens transit & superb bilingual 'SPLIT/...' arrival b/s, minor blemishes. The rate was 2/- + 1d late fee. [Carriage Adelaide-Darwin per Guinea Airways]
Foreign postal history selection including Denmark 1891 underpaid with Swiss 50c Postage Due; Germany 1945 registered with SS duo tied by Berlin cds (no certificate); German New Guinea 1904 underpaid PPC to NSW with Postage Due 1d; Greece 1938-41 airmails to Australia at various rates with an array of adhesives; Japan superb WWII POW cover with 'ZENTSUJI...' imprint to Brisbane; New Caledonia 1931 'KONE'-'VOH' airmail with 'AVION' h/s; Persia 1925 to 'WALERING/WA' (b/s); Switzerland 1939 registered air to Australia with 'PRO JUVENTUTE' franking; Uruguay 1936 to "Sidney Nova Scotia" with rare 'MISSENT TO SYDNEY/NSW' cachet; etc; some stamps including Ethiopia 1955 Airmail die proofs x4, a lovely group of Icelandic 'JOLIN' labels, and German New Guinea 10pf with manuscript "S Siar/15 1 09" shipboard cancel.

1861-87 Large Hermes Heads array with an excellent range of printings & shades plus a few apparently unused, condition variable but generally attractive with many fine to very fine stamps, interest in the postmarks both Greek & French patterns including numerals. Ex Dr Alan Nicholson.
