C of A - Other Pre-Decimals
1948-56 Arms10/- purple & £2 green Authority Imprint blocks of 4, central Melbourne cds cancels, Cat $1100+ for mint but much scarcer used.

ESSAYS:c.1946 2½d original artwork in ink and wash with white gouache & titled in lower margin showing State Emblems surrounded by Aboriginal motifs - the South Australian emblem was later changed to a magpie - on art board (205x257mm), a couple of tonespots & small tears in the margins. Attractive. [Apparently submitted for the 1946 Commonwealth Stamp Design Competition]
C of A - First Day Covers
1949-56 Arms5/- & 10/- (registered) on illustrated covers, £1 & £2 on plain registered covers, cds of 11AP49, 3OC49, 28NO49 & 16JA50 respectively, a couple of minor blemishes but the £2 is very fine, Cat $2750.

C of A - Postal History
Array of mostly 1930s commercial airmail covers plus some WWII Comfort Funds stationery (very fine unused), a few advertising items & souvenir flights, £1 Arms First Day Cover, 1960s 'The Cupid/WEDDING CAKE BOX' with the original tin (but no cake!; the only example of this remarkable item we have seen), etc, very mixed condition but those itemised are presentable.
1956oversize airmail cover (306x253mm) to London with extraordinary franking of Olympics 7½d block of 8, 1/- x11 including block of 6 & 2/- block of 12 plus Arms £1 all tied by newly introduced 'MELBOURNE/ AIR / 2 /VIC-AUST' cds with SDL, some creasing & a few peripheral faults that are of little consequence. Impressive! [The rate was 2/- per ½oz x30 = 60/- = £3]
NORTH BORNEO:1940 commercial airmail cover to Scotland with Pictorials 10c & 50c tied by 'KUDAT' cds, huge 'PASSED BY/CENSOR/[Coat of Arms]/PASSED BY/CENSOR' label (KM#L1) largely on the reverse & tied to the face by boxed 'PASSED BY/ 12 /CENSOR/NORTH BORNEO' KM#C1A. The label is Rated 10, the highest level of rarity.
NORTH BORNEO:1947 Cypher Overprints $5 vertical strip of 4, the third unit with Lower Bar Broken at Right SG 349a [R8/3], very minor toning as is often seen on this issue, unmounted, Cat £470+.

1942Union Steamship Co large cover to London endorsed "Surface + Air" franked with Arms 4/- x2, 5/- x2 & £1 x2 plus 1935 Pictorials 4d x2, 5d x19, 8d x 11 & 9d x4 and KGVI 1d & 3d tied 'WELLINGTON C/18MR42' cds paying £3 18/- rate (a few faulty or toned), censored with brown tape & 'Opened ...' label, minor edge faults.
