1931-40 commercial airmail covers with Kangaroo frankings comprising 1931 to UK with 9d single; 1933 to Germany with 1/- single; 1936 to Germany with 2/- tied 'LATE FEE/SYDNEY...'; 1937 to UK with 5/- plus 1/- Lyrebird; 1938 to Netherlands Indies with 9d single; 1938 to Austria "Germany" (post-Anschluss) with 2/- single; 1939 to Yugoslavia with 2/- and Greek currency censor; and 1940 to USA with 2/- x2 at 4/8d PanAm Clipper rate & Hong Kong triangular censor cachet; a few blemishes but generally fine. 1937 commercial airmail covers to USA both via Hong Kong & Philippines per Pan Am FAM-14 'Clipper' service 1) Melbourne-California at 4/8d ½oz rate with KGV 4d olive x2 & 2/- Roo x2, horizontal fold; and 2) Adastra advertising cover Sydney-Ohio at double-rate of 9/3d with Roos 2/- x2 & 5/- + KGVI 3d blue, part of reverse missing. Scarce.

GREAT BRITAIN: 1941 (July) endorsed "Via Hongkong" with 1/6d Hermes & 5/- Robes - penny convenience overpayment - tied by Adelaide slogan cancel, scarce 4-dots censor label of Adelaide, minor wrinkling. A rare cover. [The short-lived 6/5d rate was introduced on 25.6.1941. The via Hong Kong route was suspended on 30.8.1941]
UNITED STATES: 1940 (July 12) "Australia-Hong Kong-USA" at 4/8d rate with Koala 4d pair & Kangaroo 2/- pair tied by superb 'CASTLEMAINE/VIC-AUST' cds, Hong Kong transit b/s & Censor #9 h/s in green.
Esoteric range mostly used including Colonies noted NSW Sydney Views 2d Plate 1 (four close margins), Victoria Half-Lengths 1d Ham printing and 3d 'ECHUCA' railway parcel stamp, quantity of Kangaroos & KGV Heads including official punctures & potential postmark interest, later issues ** some in blocks, also Worldwide noted Hong Kong QEII Definitives to $50 **, New Zealand QV Postal Fiscals to 10/- used, Sudan Camels * incuding 'SG' overprints, etc, plus a few bundles, packs, covers, etc, condition variable but pickings throughout. Weighs 3.5kgs.

Trans-Pacific per PanAm FAM 14 mostly between USA & Hawaii, Philippines & Hong Kong with a few intermediates & extension covers, several are registered, lots of huge cachets & a few apparently commercial items, also post-WWII mostly commercial covers x8 from & between US Trust Territories, mostly fine to very fine.

CHINA - Postal History
1899 German PPC ('Chinese Beauties'; portraits of dozens of women) with Hong Kong 2c pair (small fault) tied by British 'SHANGHAI' cds & Coiling Dragons 4c tied by Chinese cds, 'HONG KONG' & French 'LIGNE N/PAQ FR No 1' transits & 'MODENA' arrival d/s, minor blemishes.
1858 entire headed "Foochow 27 April 1858" (China) to "Launceston/Vandiem's [sic] Land" with 'HONG KONG/ 22MY/1858' b/s & a light strike of the 21mm '[crown]/PAID/AT/HONG-KONG' h/s SG CC# in red (Cat £475 on cover), horizontal filing fold. A scarce origin-destination item.
1907 two Singapore PPCs to Queensland each with KEVII 4c with 'HS/BC' perfins (one inverted & reversed).
1912 usage of two KGV 10c K-size Registration Envelopes to Adelaide, each with KGV 4c 10c 30c & 50c, both opened a bit roughly at left & light overall damp-spotting still presentable. Rare usages.
1938-52 KGVI 1c to $10 SG 140-162b basic set of 23 plus some extra perfs & shades including 30c olive Perf 14, lightly mounted, Cat £1250+. [The illustration is above Lot 904]
1989 express airmail to Australia with 'SPEEDPOST/HONG KONG POST OFFICE' label and QEII $5 $10 & $50 tied by 'KINGS ROAD HONG KONG/26AP/89' cds, inspected with 'CUSTOMS/SCREENER' handstamp on the face and 'RECEIVED/28APR1989/SPECIAL SERVICES/PERTH WA' time-clock arrival b/s in red.
WEI-HAI-WEI: GB Revenues KGV 2d green overprinted 'TWO CENTS/WEIHAIWEI', unused. Very scarce. [The illustration is above Lot 904]
NEW GUINEA - Postal History
HONG KONG: 1939 (July 13) registered all-up airmail cover with Bulolo 3d & 1/- tied by 'MADANG' cds, rubber 'R' cachet, 'SALAMAUA' & 'TOWNSVILLE' transit b/s, Hong Kong 'R4'-in-circle postman's h/s - similar to Ted Proud's #PB194 - on the face, minor blemishes. [The all-up rate to Hong Kong was 11d but to China - as this item is addressed - it was 1/-, + 3d registration]
HONG KONG: HONG KONG: 1930s cover with 'SS FIDERUN/NORD/DEUTSCHE/LLOYD/HONGKONG/NEW GUINEA SERVICE' cachet in rosine & Undated 2d cancelled on arrival with '.../MEL[...]ERS & CO/SHIPPING DEPT/HONG KONG' cachet in violet, light vertical fold at left.
TO FOREIGN DESTINATIONS: JAPAN: 1940 (May 8) WR Carpenter cover at 5d rate for airmail to Australia with superb 'SALAMAUA' cds (small date wheels that we have not noted previously) & 'OPENED BY CENSOR' label tied by boxed Censor No 25 h/s, Hong Kong transit b/s of 28MY/40 & triangular censor #9 h/s in green, light vertical fold. [The dateline was regular as late as 15JUL39]
