1950 Leigh-Parkin double-rate airmail cover to GB endorsed "Per RMS Orion" & with very fine boxed 'TIN CAN MAIL/COCOS KEELING IS' cachet in violet, Australian 1/- Lyrebird & 2/- Aboriginal Art tied by Perth United Nations Day slogan cancel of 5OCT/1950. [This was the first mail for which the boxed cachet was used]
1953 non Leigh-Parkin airmail cover to Norfolk, GB with boxed 'TIN CAN MAIL/COCOS-KEELING' cachet in violet on face & reverse, Australian 2/- Aboriginal Art tied by Perth slogan cancel of 8MAY/1953.
1951 Leigh-Parkin cover to Devon with huge 'COCOS/SYDNEY' "lightning bolt" cachet & small makeshift 'R' label 0015, typed 'PER QANTAS/CATALINA/VH-EBA' label tied to the reverse by superb strike of the second 'C&W LTD/ 11JUN1951/COCOS' cds, Australian 2/- Aboriginal Art tied by 'GPO SYDNEY/ AIR /20JE51/ 7 / NSW-AUST' cds, 'REGISTERED/17JU51/TORQUAY, DEVON' arrival b/s, minor blemishes. [Only eight registered covers were carried on the return flight. Kim Dwyer's similar cover - label 0019 - sold for $3450]
1955 cover endorsed on the flap "Kalzie bin Myle/Keeling Cocos Island" to "Tuan G Clunies-Ross/31 Jervois Road/ Singapore 10" with Singapore 10c tied by Cocos cds of 4SEP55, minor blemishes. Rare "local" cover, apparently from a Cocos Malay.
1959 real photo PPC (Cocos Malay village) to France with very fine strike of the rare 'BY AIR/FROM/KEELING COCOS/ISLANDS' h/s in blue, 2d Queen Mother & 1/- Platypus tied by #1 cds. The latest recorded usage of the cachet. [This is the best Cocos subject PPC we have seen]
1963 OHMS cover with 'OFFICE OF THE OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVE/...' imprint at L/L, by sea to the UK with 3d Copra & 5d Plane tied by #3 cds. Superb!
1963 (Nov 22) registered commercial airmail cover to Mauritius with rare combination franking of Cocos 2/- Native Yacht & Australia 9d Kangaroo pair tied by #3 cds, sent via Perth to Sydney to connect with the Australia-Mauritius-South Africa service, 'MAHEBOURG/4DE/63/MAURITIUS' arrival b/s, minor blemishes. A remarkable cover, from the husband of the sender of Lot 2497. [The international service did not pick up mail at Cocos in either direction. Mail was thus flown by domestic service to Sydney for trans-shipping. The rate was 1/6d for "other Asian countries" + 2/- registration]
1964 OHMS cover with 'OFFICE OF THE OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVE/...' imprint at L/L registered to Connecticut with 2/- Native Dugong pair tied by #3 cds, Sydney transit & 'GROTON/CONN' arrival b/s. [With letter on matching stationery signed "M Eaglestone" over typed "Postmaster".

1964 (Sep 22) OHMS cover with 'METEOROLOGICAL OFFICE' imprint at L/L & 'METEOROLOGICAL OFFICE/ 22SEP1964/ COCOS IS' cachet, to India with 1/- Palms, 2/- Native Dugong & 2/3d Bird pair tied by light #3 cds, Bombay arrival b/s of 28.9.64, minor wrinkles. One of the best covers from this period. [The rate to India was 1/6d per Żoz x5 = 7/6d. A similar cover with franking including 2/3d block of 4 - but without the cachet - sold at the Prestige auction of 2.5.2014 for $2990]
1965 use of Cocos PPC ('COCOS ISLAND/ALTITUDE 10 FEET') to GB with 3d Copra pair & 8d Map tied by #3 cds, social message states "This is just a landing field in the middle of the Indian Ocean". [The postcard airmail rate to GB & Europe was 1/2d]
1965 (Dec 6) cover with 'CLUNIES-ROSS ESTATE/KEELING COCOS ISLANDS' on the flap, airmail to London with 3d Copra & 1/- Palms pair tied by the #3 cds, light vertical fold at left.

Ex Ray Kelly. [Prepayment of the US internal airmail fee of 8c per zone was permitted from 1924. Pflum pre-serviced his covers with the stamps of both countries & examples from Australia & Papua are known with the American stamps cancelled at the point of posting]
