WESTERN AUSTRALIA - Postal History
1883 (Aug 7) cover to Italy "per Pekin" with Perf 14 1d yellow-ochre & 6d lilac tied by poor 15-bar '6' cancels, fine Albany cds at base, fumigated at Venice where cut by three chisel slits (one affecting the 1d, another through the complete Union Bank of Australia wafer on the flap), Naples arrival, upright-oval '1A/DIST/11/SET/83' & '81'-in-heart postman's backstamps, minor faults. Ex Patrick Pearson and Dr Cecil Walkley: acquired for $3105. RPSofV Certificate (2011). Carried "Pekin" 7/8/1883; then "Venetia" from Aden direct to Venice arrived 9/9/1883.
