1919 (Jun 5) usage of Kangaroo 1d red Die II Official Envelope with 'OS'-of-Dots-in-the-Die Type 2 ('O' = 13 dots; 'S' = 11 dots; top serifs on 'U' & 'I' of 'AUSTRALIA' are Covered) uprated with KGV Sideface d green with solid 'OS'-in-the-Die HG DB5 on cream stock for Deputy Commissioner of Maternity Allowances, Melbourne Krag machine with 'HELP REPATRIATION/BUY WAR SAVINGS/CERTIFICATES' slogan, repaired flap fault that in no way detracts from this extraordinary & very rare "doubleton", of which only one other example has been recorded. Ex Charlie Fawcett, Julie Resch and John Sinfield: acquired for $11,200 at our auction of 20/11/2004. [NB: no Kangaroo d 'OS' die was prepared]

Most attractive & unusual. [The addressee, Felix Gade, was an antiques dealer]
