C of A - First Day Covers
1930 Lord Howe Island ProvisionalSturt 1½d endorsed in manuscript "2d paid/PM/LHI" uncancelled on commercial cover to a Sydney solicitor with 'LORD HOWE_ ISLAND/22AU/1930/NSW' cds alongside, a few faults but presentable & the stamp is very fine, Cat $3250 (for usage on 22 or 23.8.1930). From the first despatch of provisionals from the island, with the earliest recorded date of 22.8.1930, making this a rare & generally unrecognised First Day Cover. [Most later covers were organised by collectors & invariably have the cds tying the stamp to the envelope]
