POSTMARKS: Railway Sidings annotated datestamps with NSW including 'BUNYAN SIDING', 'STOKER'S SIDING' & 'WEJA SIDING' (two different), also boxed 'Posted at/CHARLTON SIDING' h/s; Queensland 'EUMINA SIDING', 'MINEHAN'S SIDING', 'GULLEN'S SIDING' on registered piece, 'WESTBROOK SIDING' (2 different) & PPC from "Yanna Siding"; South Australia three with manuscript endorsements & partial '[L]YNDHURST SI[DING] squared-circle (rated RR); Victoria 'KNOTT'S SIDING' & 'MOYNE SIDING' (both cut-to-shape); & Western Australia 'GEORGINA' #D27 & B27, 'EJANDING SIDING' & 1909 PPC redirected from Perth to "Wachinicup Siding"; etc, condition variable. Accumulation of mostly 1930s meters on cover or front with many illustrated covers and/or slogans, noted a number of very early 1928 & 1929 usages and some post-WWII material, strong thematic content including sports, clothing, automobiles, entertainment, etc, condition variable but generally fine to very fine. A good basis for expansion.
1937 (June 1) commercial airmail cover endorsed "Australia-London-Jamaica via USA" with Kangaroos 9d & 2/- plus QMother 1d all tied by 'LATE FEE/SYDNEY NSW - AIR MAIL/SECTION/GPO' machine, minor tonespots. Between 1934 & early-1938, the all-up rate was 2/9d + 1d late fee.
1945 complete parcel tag with huge cachet for a Malvern Star agent to Singleton with rare franking of KGVI 2d mauve block of 9 tied by 'SOUTH MURWILLUMBAH/NSW' cds, apparently registered but no R label, minor crease clear of the stamps. [The appropriate parcel rates were 1/3d up to 3lb + 3d registration or 1/6d up to 5lb. Probably sending a bicycle chain or accessories]
Attractive bundle of mostly topographicals from NSW x38 including several Jenolan Caves, a few Undivided Backs, advertising cards for 'The Ivanhoe/Blackheath' & 'Hotel Masnsion/Bayswater Road'; Queensland Undivded Backs x3; South Australia x15 with several Undivided Backs including 'Adelaide from a Balloon' x3 different; and Western Australia x11 mostly Undivided Backs and Caves Board of WA 'Crystal Terrace'; generally fine to very fine used or unused. A very good lot extracted from an original collection.
Advertising including cards for Barraclough Opticians 'The Federal Judges Wear Our Glasses', Barracluff Ostrich Farms x2 different, SAP Rabbit Poison 'This is no place for us ...', Duguid Land Agents (Sydney) horses, Bridestone Estate Lavender (Lilydale Tas), Commercial Hotel (Rockhampton), Ball & Welch (Melbourne), Bensdorp Royal Dutch Cocoa (Melbourne), RB Lawrence Dyer 'Don't Die with Fright ..!' (woman with handgun), J Bartram 'Milking Machine', 'Dug-Out' Allied Services Club (Melbourne), various performers & plays noted 'Woman in the Case' x2 different, etc, a couple with minor blemishes but mostly fine.
1908 Visit of the American Great White Fleet selection including Victoria 1½d (unused), semi-official cards with 'TO/SYDNEY' or 'TO/MELBOURNE' at L/L, WTP chromolithos x5, REM artist card, Wellman (St Kilda) Fleet n Flags, Stratton (Tennessee) of American sailors marching through Sydney & on R&R at Blackheath in the Blue Mountains, etc, mostly unused. A very attractive group.
1908 Visit of the American Great White Fleet attractive group with Ships of the Fleet by W&B in blue (x14 different + one with advertising for ANA Sewing Machines) or F&J chromolithos x4, also WTP chromolithos x6 different (one damaged), 'Victoria: God's Own Country' card (trimmed at left, possibly because it exceeded size-limits), 'Drink Resch's Lager & Ales' (corner fault), and a few others, mostly unused or used under cover, condition variable; plus eleven sub-standard duplicates.
1908 Visit of the American Great White Fleet selection noted USS 'Ohio' with ANA Sewing Machines advert, USS 'Georgia' used under cover, USS 'Virginia' real photo card, 'Australia Greets America' x2 slighty different one from Melbourne with message "... fleet arrived yesterday it is all stars & stripes & souvenirs ..", 'Uncle Sam in Australia' humorous card, 'Sydney Town Hall USA Fleet Visit' decorated with flags, 'Sailors Excursions to Black Heath [sic] ... August 22, 1908', 'American Fleet Passing Through Magellan Straits' with Wolfe's Schnapps advertising unused, F&J 'Georgia' & 'Vermont' battleships, a couple with minor blemishes but mostly fine.
NEW SOUTH WALES: Wide-ranging group of mostly topographicals including smaller towns, caves, beaches, mining, Blue Mountains & waterfalls, etc, condition variable but generally good to very fine.
NEW SOUTH WALES: Small group of better cards including real photos of hotel with fully-laden stagecoach outside (location unidentified; used 1906 with NSW 1d), 'Cycling at the Kindergarten Tooronga Zoo' with Monkey on Bicycle, Molong store display with products, 'Lachlan Street, Forbes' with J&W Thomas Grocers & Drapers store, 'Railway Station, Cobar' with steam locomotive & train, 'First Engine Driver, NSW Railways, 1855', 'Screen at Colliery, Newcastle, NSW', 'Wallaringa Mansions' Neutral Bay & 'Bernley' Potts Point private hotels advertising cards, etc, generally fine.
- New South Wales: Selection including vignette views & undivided backs, real photos Bathurst main street with McSorley Hotel, Broken Hill 'Camels loaded for Outback' carrying Onepah Station trunks, Burrinjuck Dam x4 under construction & in flood, Campbelltown 'Presbyterian Manse' sent 1908 to USA with postage due, Katoomba Sans Souci guesthouse, Tocumwal hay cart, lots of other town & country views including Lithgow Pottery & Brick Works, Grafton Ferry on Clarence River, Murwillumbah 1907 'Main Street after the fire', Singleton 'J Moore & Co Stores', Tamworth Peel Street under flood, as well as plenty of Sydney Streets, Harbour Bridge, Beaches, Blue Mountains & Jenolan Caves, etc, many used with possible postmark interest and some tax markings, a couple with minor blemishes but mostly fine.
