'SPECIMEN' Overprints on an array of early 1920s issues from British West Indies, British Africa, Malayan Region, Pacific Islands & the Mediterranean, mostly short/broken sets but with a few complete but minor sets including Jamaica Child Welfare & Gold Coast Postage Due sets, lots of high values to 15/-, £1 & 20r, also some non-Specimens including Gilbert & Ellice Overprints on Fiji set (used), Straits Malaya-Borneo Exhibition to $2 & Southern Rhodesia Admirals, condition variable but generally fine to very fine.

A real mixed bag with Colombia revenues to $20 with small puncture & 'SPECIMEN' Overprint (15 + 6 blocks of 4); 'BECHUANALAND/PROTECTORATE' KEVII Revenues 2/6d with postal cds; a very scrappy group of pre-1901 South African covers including internal & registered items from Transvaal; 1936 much-travelled cover from USA to Egypt & beyond; & a few others.

POSTAL CARDS: 1919 'THREE/HALFPENCE' on 1916 1d Die 1 with New Admonition Added (#P27) BW #P50, unused, Cat $2500. Superb! [The ACSC states "Although there is no record of the number of this card surcharged, it must have been small. At least three [unused] examples are recorded". John Sinfield's unused example sold at the Prestige auction of 8/11/2013 for $1725]
AEROGRAMMES - OFFICIAL: 1959 Third Issue with 'OHMS/[Jet]' at Upper-Right overprinted 'SPECIMEN' in red, Cat $100.

Stockbook of duplicates with lots of Classics in very indifferent condition but with some better stamps noted, scads of middle period, many Official overprints including 8d with 'OS' in Red SG O9 with 1880 duplex (creased) & 5/- Map with Broken 'S', some Official perfins, Telegraphs 1d unused, etc, some postmark interest, condition rather mixed but plenty of better stamps.
1885-86 Stamp Duty Overprinted 'POSTAGE' in Blue Perf 10 10/- mauve claret/bluish paper SG 241, large-part o.g., Cat £1700.
1899 Chalk-Surfaced Paper 'NINEPENCE' on 10d with Albino Surcharge Only SG 309b, small gum-thin, Cat £275. A very unusual error.
OFFICIALS: 1879 Wmk '6' 3d dull green SG O1, characteristic rough perfs, Sydney cds of DE31/1881, Cat £550. Ex Guy Hutson. Underrated; unpriced mint.
OFFICIALS: 1882-85 Wmk '40' Perf 10 3d yellow-green with Double Overprint One Albino SG O22a block of 4, full unmounted o.g., Cat £600++ (for mounted singles). RPSofV Certificate (2009). [Many such errors are difficult to detect because the two impressions are almost coincident. In this case, there is 3mm horizontal displacement]
OFFICIALS: 1882-85 Wmk '40' Perf 11 8d yellow with the Overprint Triple SG O32db, well centred, untidy but light cancellation that only slightly intrudes on the overprints, Cat £1200. Ex Guy Hutson. A rare stamp.
OFFICIALS: 1887-90 High Values overprinted 'POSTAGE' with Seriffed 'O S' 10/- mauve & claret Perf 10 SG O37b, a few irregular perfs, large-part o.g., Cat £6500. Ex Guy Hutson. A very rare Official. BPA Certificate (1963).
REPRINTS: 1887-90 Long Type Stamp Duty overprinted 'POSTAGE' & 'O S' Perf 10 as SG O137b but with oval 'O' in 'O S', characteristic irregular perfs, CTO with 'GPO'-in-concentric-ovals, no gum. Much scarcer than the similar Perf 12 reprint.

INTERNATIONAL REPLY COUPONS: 1920 Globes & Allegorical Figure 6d with Four Lines of Text Above & Below the Illustration, 73mm 'Nouvelle-Galles du Sud - New South Wales.' at the base & tiny 'V Benziger & Co...Schweiz' imprint in the lower margin, revised instructions overprinted in red on the reverse, an uncut block of 4. Superb! [It seems very peculiar that, even as late as 1920, the UPU was still apparently issuing IRCs to the six States of the Federation of Australia]

POSTAL CARDS: 1897 1d Die I group with "Greetings from", "With Christmas Greetings" x6 (one with Large 'SPECIMEN' Overprint on reverse) & "With New Year Greetings" x5 (one with Large 'SPECIMEN' Overprint on reverse), some minor blemishes - mostly on the address sides - but generally fine to very fine unused.
PRIVATE RAILWAY STAMPS: Cairns-Mulgrave Tramway Large Format 1d 3d & 1/- and Small Format 2d 3d 6d & 1/- blocks of 4 all overprinted with Serial Numbers in black, unused with no gum as issued.

1900 from the Boer War endorsed "From Trooper N Carhale [?]/No 250 3rd QMI" (= Queensland Mounted Infantry) with space at lower-left for an officer to countersigned but left blank, Transvaal VRI 1d tied by British 'ARMY PO 55/OC11/00/S.AFRICA' cds, Brisbane transit & 'CHARLEVILLE' arrival b/s, overall soiling.
REPRINTS: Range on Hagners including Imperf set + 1/- violet, Rouletted to 1/- x4 including 9d violet & 'TEN PENCE' on 9d various colours x6, Perf to 2/- including '3-PENCE' in Red on 4d x2 & in Black, '8 PENCE' on 9d x5, 'TEN PENCE' on 9d x2 etc, all with 'REPRINT' Overprint; also 6d violet-blue with 'SPECIMEN' Overpint; a few faults but generally very fine, most with large-part o.g. Ex the "Severin" UPU Collection.
Various 'SPECIMEN' or 'Specimen' Overprints comprising Sidefaces ½d 3d & V/Crown 9d, Tablets 5d & 5/- and 1903 V/Crown 1/-, Pictorials 1899-1900 set of 8 and 1902 V/Crown set of 3, a few minor blemsihes but generally very fine with large-part o.g. Ex VJ Colbeck.
