NEW SOUTH WALES - SYDNEY: 1941 (Apr & July) airmail covers to Forces in Palestine with machine-backstamps 'NOT OPENED BY CENSOR/ 2 ' or '2 PASSED BY CENSOR 1100'. Scarce markings that were apparently introduced on a trial basis but not continued on a permanent basis. [David Collyer has demonstrated that the machine used had previously been in service at the post office at Lismore NSW] (Qty 2)

1942 (June 12) cover to a Lesotho woman in Basutoland (!) with Australia 1d & 9d tied by 'AUS FPO 34' cds in use at Tripoli (Lebanon) & FPO No 34 registration cachet in violet, 'LERIBE' transit & 'PITSENG' arrival b/s. An extraordinary origin/destination cover. The sender was presumably a Basuto native, probably serving with South African Forces.
