1930 Aeroplane Overprints Harrison Printings 1/- sepia & olive as SG 117 but with the Overprint in Dark Carmine and additionally with 'AI,R MAIL' Variety, the gum a little tropicalised as usual & a minor gum blemish but unmounted. Unlisted by Gibbons. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2002) states "only the small first part of the printing received overprints in the dark carmine colour...The variety occurred only on Position 11...and was later corrected". [Better centred than Peter Troy's very similar example that sold at the Prestige auction of 28/7/2009 for $1610]

'Stamp Duty.' OVERPRINTS: 1907-10 Small 'PAPUA' Watermark Upright Perf 11 6d black & myrtle-green (SG 53) with Overprint Inverted Barefoot #3a , slightly toned gum, Cat 175 (used). Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2002) states "Very rare as only one sheet of 30 believed printed". [Peter Troy's almost identical stamp sold at the Prestige auction of 28/7/2009 for $1552]

REVENUES: c.1940 'TERRITORY OF PAPUA/POSTAL NOTE' with Five-Digit Serial Numbers in Black & John Ash Imprint at the Base 10/-, double-circle 'POST OFFICE/25/SEP/1941/PORT MORESBY, PAPUA' cds & straight-line 'PORT MORESBY' h/s both in violet, 'PAID/3.11.41' perfin (with a couple of broken pins) & two tringular punches, unusually fine. Rare. [Payable to Golden Casket at Brisbane. Postal Notes were a common method of purchasing sweepstake tickets through the post. The exceptional collection of Australian Postal Notes formed by the American Jack Harwood contained only three Papuan examples, two of which had significant faults, and no 10/-]
