The article was apparently handed back to the sender who returned the next day with a Large Lyrebird 1/- block of 4 now added. 'DOUANE' (= "Customs") label endorsed "1 Gts Tie Xmas Gift only" & value "7/6" affixed. On arrival British 'CHARGE' label affixed; Customs duty of 6d + Post Office fee for Customs clearance of 6d levied; large "C" in blue added in accordance with instructions on the label; Postage Due 4d x3 tied by 'CAMBRIDGE' cds & the face endorsed "1/- Paid Porter's Lodge"; finally redirected to London. NB: all the stamps have 'B&N' perfins. An exceptional "merchandise" usage.
