PARCELS - OVERSEAS
1934 (Nov 1) parcel piece (170x135mm) with complete 'HRH THE DUKE OF GLOUCESTER/Australasian Tour/ OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHS' address label to London News Agency Photos Ltd in England endorsed "Air Mail Australia-Karachi-London" with exceptional franking of KGV ½d orange, Kangaroos Third Wmk £1 grey, and Macarthur 2d red & 9d purple all tied by 'BALLARAT/VIC' cds, minor defects but the £1 grey is very fine. [The article weighed 12½oz, for which the parcel rate was 1/4d. However, a parcel sent by air was required to bear the full airmail letter rate postage. Postage per ounce was 2d letter rate + 3d per ½oz internal airmail x2 + 6d per ½oz Karachi-London airmail supplement x2 = 1/8d per ounce x12 = £1 + 11d for the additional ½oz (so the article was overpaid ½d!)]
