Mostly commercial mail including a bundle of South Australian 1930s-40s registered covers plus a few advertising covers from smaller towns one with 'PAID AT PORT AUGUSTA/1D 8OC37/SA' cds (ERD by 11 years; rated RR), also two 1948 philatelic covers with scarce 'MILDURA BCH UNIVERSITY/VIC-AUST' cds, Postal Stationery including KGV 5d Registration Envelopes with 'COMPENSATION' handstamp x9 & STO Wrapper 5d light blue for Sydney Stock Exchange, etc, condition variable.

C of A - Military - World War I
Covers (3) & KGV 1d Postal Cards x2 all to Australians known to be POWs at Cassel (2, both with large circular camp cachet), Crefeld, Dülmen or Gottingen, the last forwarded to Dülmen, various British & German cachets, also a stampless PPC from Switzerland to an Australian POW at Friedrichsfeld bei Wesel. Nice group.
1915 usage of 1d Roo Postal Card with three different Prisoner of War handstamps in green, to West Sumatra but apparently missent to GB where superb 'PRISONERS OF WAR/[crown]/INFORMATION BUREAU' cachet applied, unusual usage of LONDON WC OFFICAL PAID' cds in red indicating POW mail was free, superb 'SIBOLGA' arrival cds, corner bends at upper-right & lower-left. A most unusual POW usage to an unusual destination. [The letter, in English, states "...The number of letters we may write is much restricted but there is no limit for letters from abroad. All the prisoners here have to work 4 hours every day with axe and shovel...The war has cost me...a great deal of money..."]
1916 1d scenic Letter Cards with military views, all different, unused. Ex Michael Blake.
1918 PPC of Langensalza POW Camp to England with large circular Camp cachet & German POW Postal Card with printed 'Camp de Friedrichsfeld près Wesel' at left & 'Friedrichsfeld' on the reverse; also two covers (one a front only) from an Australian POW interned in Holland (not encountered by us before), both with 'PORTVRIJ/FRANC DE PORT/Militaires étrangers/Internés dans les Pays Bas' cachet in violet. [The last two items are from Pte Alexander McKee, captured at Fromelles & held in Germany until 13/2/1918 when he was paroled to Holland conditional upon him remaining in an internees' camp for the duration of the war]

POSTAL CARDS: 1919 'THREE/HALFPENCE' on 1916 1d Die 1 with New Admonition Added (#P27) BW #P50, unused, Cat $2500. Superb! [The ACSC states "Although there is no record of the number of this card surcharged, it must have been small. At least three [unused] examples are recorded". John Sinfield's unused example sold at the Prestige auction of 8/11/2013 for $1725]
LETTER CARDS - "MILITARY": 1d carmine on grey surfaced stock #LCM1, unused, Cat $500.
LETTER CARDS - "MILITARY": ditto, 1d carmine on grey surfaced stock #LCM1 a complete pack of 6 with the Post Office band inscribed 'MILITARY LETTER CARDS/Six for 6½d', unused, Cat $3000+. Ex Tony Finlayson. Very rare in this format, and a wonderful exhibition page. [Barry Scott's band only sold at the Prestige auction of 17/2/2012 for $1322!!]
ENVELOPES: 1928 KGV Oval ½d orange, 1d green, 1½d red & 2d brown BW #EP29 30 31 & 33, CTO with part-'GPO/-DE28/ MELBOURNE' cds (struck off the envelope, as always), Cat $1100. Under-rated and superb! [These were Post Office emissions, printed only for UPU distribution. The ½d 1d & 2d were never issued for over-the-counter sales. The 1d was available for STO for the Printed Matter rate. The ½d is known only uprating 1d STO Envelopes for the Municipality of Westbury. The 2d brown is unknown on STO Envelopes, & is therefore available only in this format ]
ENVELOPES - "MILITARY": 1916 (Mar) First Issue 'AUSTRALIAN IMPERIAL FORCE.' 1d #ME1 with space between 'Regimental' & 'Number' = 2-3mm & address lines with 9½ Dots per 10mm, Sydney machine cancel of OC26/1916, endorsed "Hosp/14.12.16", Cat $450.
ENVELOPES - "MILITARY": 1916 (Jul) Second Issue 'AUSTRALIAN IMPERIAL FORCE.' Reset Text with First Address Line 19mm Below the Printer's Rule 1d #ME2 on unsurfaced greyish stock addressed but with "Australia" endorsed across the face & unused, light vertical fold. Weird!
ENVELOPES - "MILITARY": ditto, 1d #ME2 on unsurfaced greyish stock, minor blemishes on the reverse, 'REDFERN/13NO16/NSW' cds, endorsed "Not Joined Unit/21.1.17" but then "Found" in red, very minor blemishes, Cat $2000. The ACSC doesn't list this stock. [Only two used examples of #ME2 have been recorded. Barry Scott didn't have a used example]
ENVELOPES - "MILITARY": 1916 (Sep) Third Issue 'A.I.F., ABROAD.' First Setting with 25mm Thick & Thin Printer's Rules below Heading 1d on Laid Stock and Second Setting with 27mm Two Thick Printers Rules 1d on Laid Stock #ME3A & 4A, a couple of very minor blemishes, unused, Cat $600.
ENVELOPES - "MILITARY": ditto, First Setting with 25mm Thick & Thin Printer's Rules below Heading 1d on Laid Stock #ME3A, superb Sydney machine cancel of AP16/1917, endorsed "Missing/11-4-17" & "P" (= POW) in green, British 'OPENED BY/CENSOR/ PW 456' label (partly lifted to reveal the cancel & endorsement), Cat $400.
ENVELOPES - STAMPED TO ORDER: 1960 5d light blue as BW #ES98 but 227x155mm with printed 'OHMS' & 'PRINTED MATTER/(Post Card Only)' at upper-left & address of the NSW Water Conservation & Irrigation Commission, unused. A most unusual size; most unusual Printed Matter usage; & the only example we have seen. [Presumably for returning records of irrigation water meter readings]
WRAPPERS - DEFENCE FORCES: c.1949 4½d Defence Force 'AIR MEDAL SECTION' wrappers, unfolded unused. Pristine!
