1930s-40s covers to New Zealand with 1938 airmails from Finland and Italy via Australia, the former with German TPO transit, Egypt 1941 censored on arrival and post-war airmails x2, French Oceania censored covers, Norfolk Island 1949 airmail with Ball Bay issues, Sudan 1938 airmail with single 15m Camel apparently paying EAMS rate, also Parcel Cards from Egypt 1940 with 100m Airmail & Revenue stamps, and from Tahiti 1941 with 10fr Papetoai Bay x3 and 'FRANCE LIBRE' overprints, plus a few others including New Zealand 1914 parcel tag with KEVII 6d red and 1954 FDC with Great Barrier Island 'PORT FITZROY' cds.

From a family/business source never before on the market.
1913 usage to Switzerland of 1d Roo Letter Card ("LAKE ST CLAIR") in purple uprated with NSW 1d & ½d Roo (rounded corner) tied by Sydney machine cancel & 'SHIP ROOM/SYDNEY NSW' cds, light 'VEVEY' arrival b/s, minor blemishes & a little aged. [Nice CofA/State combination franking]
1916 very late usage of NSW 1d Postal Card ("GOVETT'S LEAP") to a French POW in Germany uprated with KGV ½d tied by 'THE EXCHANGE/NSW' cds, endordsed "Via France & Geneve" but sent via GB with British POW cachet, bumped corners & minor soiling. Ex Neil Russell.
1918 covers endorsed "Letter for enemy country enclosed" to Switzerland both with the rare boxed 'PASSED BY/CENSOR SD/...' with Smaller Letters cachet in violet applied at Sydney, plus a cover without the endorsement & the standard cachet for comparison.
1942-47 Prisoner of War mail comprising 1941 airmail postcard from GB "via North Atlantic/Transpacific ... Clipper" to "Hut 1 Camp 8, Eastern Command" Sydney but forwarded to Tatura with Melbourne censor and stamp removed (file punched); two 1941 POW lettersheets to Italy from Hay and Murchison camps respectively and another 1943 from Tatura to Switzerland; two airmail from Italy "via Lisbona-New York" with 'POW CAMP/MYRTLEFORD,VIC' cachets censored in Melbourne where stamps removed; and 1947 KGVI 7d Aerogramme to Italy from Camp 13, Murchison; also leaflet dropped to POWs in South-East Asia upon Japan's surrender (faults, laminated); Red Cross Prisoner of War Bulletins Nos 9, 16 & 21; and Australian Prisoners of War Relatives Association Newsletters Nos 23 & 25 with details of Australian POWs in Europe and Asia; 1942 'In Aid of our Prisoners of War' booklet of writings with foreword by Lady Gowrie; 1983 reprint of 'An illustrated Diary of Australian Internment Camps - Berrima' signed by author Edmund W Samuels; and a copy of George Mann's book 'Over The Wire'.

1914 (Oct 11) usage of 1d Roo Postal Card signed "DS Wanliss" to Victoria with Albany (WA) cds & superlative strike of the rare fancy-boxed 'PASSED/...("DG")...' cachet in violet, minor blemishes. An exceptional First Convoy item. [David Sydney Wanliss was Commanding Officer of 5th Battalion, AIF. He was awarded the CMG at Gallipoli: see related lots in our Coins & Banknotes Auction. In 1921 he was appointed Chief Judge in New Guinea. He states ",,,you will get a letter probably in less than three weeks. At present we cannot well write..."]
