Boer War bundle in two designs & addressed to the exiled South African Republic president Paul Kruger in Paris or Berlin from throughout Western Europe. One design of a family paying homage to a statue of Kruger (some of these are embossed) is inscribed in various languages; the second a symbolic peace design with a dedication in German to "the faithful father of his people"; plus a few other PPCs and a contemporary formal photograph of Kruger. CAPE OF GOOD HOPE: 1906 postcard to Western Australia with printed 'Trappists Emaus PO Umzimkulu, Griqualand East' on the reverse, KEVII ˝d pair tied by two of three strikes of the 'UMZIMKULU' cds (Putzel rated RRRR). Exceptional combination of a rare postmark & an unusual destination.
1939 (April 24) waterlogged cover from England carried aboard the Flying Boat "Challenger" that crashed at Lumbo in Mozambique Nierinck #390501, roneo'd label attached.
1941-42 inward censored airmail Letter Cards from Egypt (3) addressed to "P.O.Solomondale" (Northern Transvaal) each with fine 'SOLOMONDALE' b/s for '4DEC41', '20DEC41' or '15JAN42' rated "very rare" by Pützel, some light soiling. [PO 12/8/41; closed 2/11/42] (Qty 3)
1950s to early 1960s extensive collection of mostly registered covers partly sorted in three filing boxes with many hundreds of different post offices, registration labels & cachets etc, noted Express, Railway & Official mail, advertising covers, a few with Postage Dues & a few with "Cinderellas" etc, 90%+ are commercial including literally hundreds of Registration Envelopes. The condition is rather mixed and there is some duplication but whether you are interested in the datestamps, the registration aspects, or the stamps themselves, this is a very good lot.
