C of A - Military - World War I
1916 1d scenic Letter Cards with military views, all different, unused. Ex Michael Blake.
1916 Gratuitous Distribution Letter Cards T ype 1 with Poem on the Reverse on grey stock, stained on the reverse but fine facial appearance, unused; and on thick paper with message headed "Tel el Kebir/11.1.16" & '2nd AUST INF BDE FIELD PO/9FE15' cds; plus Type 2 with "2nd AIF EMBARKING" in black on the reverse. on thin paper, unused but the margins removed. Scarce trio.

NEW SOUTH WALES - Postal Stationery
POSTAL CARDS: 1897 Scenic Issue printer's proof on very thin card with printed banner in red but no stamp & "KATOOMBA FALLS, NS WALES" in black on the reverse, a couple of very minor blemishes. Rare.
A group of 29 of these delightful essays came to light only in 1984, comprising six different designs in a range of colours, some with 'Stamp'-within-a-box printed on the address side. They were almost certainly prepared by William Gullick, the NSW Government Printer. All have minor abrasions on the address side where removed from a reference book.
POSTAL CARDS: 1897 1d Die I group with "Greetings from", "With Christmas Greetings" x6 (one with Large 'SPECIMEN' Overprint on reverse) & "With New Year Greetings" x5 (one with Large 'SPECIMEN' Overprint on reverse), some minor blemishes - mostly on the address sides - but generally fine to very fine unused.
POSTAL CARDS - STAMPED TO ORDER: 1907 NSW Government Railways 1d with Stamp below Box ("Coast Scene at Clifton...") with superb Sydney cds & light 'OLD GUILDFORD' arrival cds (name changed from Guidford (1) 13.8.1906), minor blemishes. Rare.
TASMANIA - Postal History
POSTAL STATIONERY: 1911 'ONE PENNY' at 40 Degrees on 2d Letter Card HG 6a "MOUNT GOULD - LAKE MARLOW" in claret, minor discolouration on the view side, Hobart machine cancel of 30JAN12. Rare.
POSTAL STATIONERY: 1898 Scenic Issue Envelopes 2d & 2½d HG B2 & 3 complete set of the twelve views, unused. Superb! Ex VJ Colbeck. [These envelopes are among the most beautiful postal stationery items ever issued. Printed by Waterlow & Sons, only 308 sets were produced. A similar set sold in our auction of 30.9.2015 for $4046]
PICTURE POSTCARDS: 1880s Postal Cards x4 & private postcards x3 with woodcut illustrations on reverse of Bastei-Brücke (two different, both with boxed 'BASTEI' datestamp), Schneekoppe in rosine (central fold, superb 'SCHNEEKOPPE' datestamp), Detmold triptych (rounded corners) & "Gruss vom Inselberg", or of a painting "Heidelberg - Vom Wolfsbrunnenweg", & 1891 "Gruss vom Aussichtsthurm der Intern Electrot Ausstellung Frankfurt" (unused but with oval dated cachet in green on the address-side), a few problems but mostly fine to very fine. QATAR: 1970-89 commercial usages of Aerogrammes 25f (repaired) with scarce '.../MIRQAAB' cds, 50d to India, 60d with Refinery & Agriculture on the Back to Bangla Desh & 1r with GPO on the Back to Holland. Scarce quartet.
