1917 (Sep 21) triple-rate usage of KGV 4d Registration Envelope to Switzerland & endorsed "Contents/Letters for Enemy Territory", uprated with KGV 4d orange & Kangaroo 2d tied to the flap by 'JANDOWAE/QUEENSLAND' cds, scarce red & black/white registration label, Brisbane transit b/s & red/white 'OPENED BY CENSOR' label, three Italian transit b/s including 'TORINO-FERROVIA/(ESTERO)' TPO cds plus very fine Italian '(16) VERIFICATO/PER CENSURA' & 'MILANO/POSTA ESTERA' h/s the latter tying Italian Censor label. A remarkable usage. [During WWI, appropriately endorsed mail for Axis residents could be sent under cover to accommodation addresses in neutral countries such as Sweden, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Registered examples are rarely seen]
