1920 (Feb 23) double-rate cover to South West Africa with Kangaroos Third Wmk 3d olive tied by Melbourne machine, superb oval 'SWAKOPMUND-___' defaced German-period TPO d/s & light boxed 'PASSED BY CENSOR/DOORSELATEN DOOR CENSOR' h/s in violet. [Censorship lasted into the 1920s in most former German Colonies]

1917 (Sep 21) triple-rate usage of KGV 4d Registration Envelope to Switzerland & endorsed "Contents/Letters for Enemy Territory", uprated with KGV 4d orange & Kangaroo 2½d tied to the flap by 'JANDOWAE/QUEENSLAND' cds, scarce red & black/white registration label, Brisbane transit b/s & red/white 'OPENED BY CENSOR' label, three Italian transit b/s including 'TORINO-FERROVIA/(ESTERO)' TPO cds plus very fine Italian '(16) VERIFICATO/PER CENSURA' & 'MILANO/POSTA ESTERA' h/s the latter tying Italian Censor label. A remarkable usage. [During WWI, appropriately endorsed mail for Axis residents could be sent under cover to accommodation addresses in neutral countries such as Sweden, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Registered examples are rarely seen]

1938 (Oct 1) usage to Italy of KGVI 5½d Registration Envelope with KGV 1/4d & KGVI 3d blue Die II tied by Sydney cds, three Italian b/s including 'BOLOGNA-VENEZIA/ 201 ' TPO b/s. [The illustration is on page 58]
DOMESTIC: 1937 cover with 'Duddleston's Hotel/YASS' imprint to Sydney with KGVI 2d Die I tied by 'TPO 1 SOUTH/UP 14AU37/ 2 NSW' cds & superb 'LATE FEE/1D' h/s alongside, Postage Due Perf 11 1d tied by pencil cancel. [Letters posted onto a train were subject to a late fee of 1d which, if not pre-paid, was charged to the addressee at the single deficiency]
OVERSEAS: 1915 cover to Sweden with scarce solo franking of Kangaroos 5d chestnut - paying 2½d rate + 2½d late fee - tied by 'ENGLISH MAIL TPO/ OUT /27JA15/VICTORIA' cds, superb 'Passed' h/s of Adelaide in violet, minor stain at left otherwise unusually fine & attractive.
