COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA
Untidy mint & used accumulation in albums, envelopes & boxes including Colonial issues & some on piece with potential postmark interest but also a smattering of mint noted Kangaroos CofA Wmk 9d block of 4 and 10/- marginal single, KGV 4d block of 9, 5d strips of 3 x2 & 1/4d pair plus 1/- Victorian Centenary x5 & 9d Macarthur block of 6, then modern decimal issues in packs, blocks & part-sheets with substantial face value, also quantity of FDCs and a few PNCs, condition of earlies mixed but many fine.
Hagners with Roos Second Wmk 2/- with attractive blue cds & 5/- 'OS' with 'DARWIN' cds both quite well-centred, KGV Heads including varieties, etc, also Colonies/States with values to 2/6d, plus New Zealand 5/- Mt Cook and Postal Fiscals to 10/- with 6/- rose postally used, a few mint & CTO seen, condition overall fine.
Huge accumulation with Kangaroos to 5/-, KGV Heads & Pre-Decimals in quantity used and apparently unchecked for varieties & postmarks noted ANZAC 1/- punctured 'G/NSW', £1 Robes, £2 Arms & Navigators, a few mint scattered throughout, Decimals mostly used but also some unmounted face value, plus a few Territories, then albums of Colonial issues noted NSW 10/- 'POSTAGE' overprint used, South Australia with Long Types to 10/- used, Tasmania 1863 Fiscal St George 3d green apparently mint with large part o.g., Chalons group including unused (presumably cleaned fiscal cancels) & Sidefaces mint, condition variable but generally fine.
CINDERELLAS: Accumulation with WWI Liberty Loan x5 with different types, 1938 NSW Sesqui complete sheet of 30 (minor marginal faults) plus extra singles, WWII Lady Gowrie block of 10, Olympex se-tenant pairs, then extensive range of Post Office labels including Air Mail blue/green emergency printing on cover x3, Express, SAL, Air Parcel, International Priority etc, many in larger multiples, condition overall fine.
LITERATURE: Carton of non-philatelic works comprising "Victoria & Its Metropolis" in two large leather-bound volumes (1888), some foxing; "A History of Australia" by Manning Clark in six volumes, all with d/j; and "El Dorado Colombian Gold" catalogue for the travelling exhibition in Australia (1978). No reserve.

Large accumulation from Kangaroos to Decimals with Postal Card KGV 'ONE/PENNY' on 1½d brown BW #P57 mint (Cat $750; light discolouration on back), Letter Cards including some views, Envelopes with PTPO Kangaroo 1d 'Shire of Moorabbin', KGV Sideface 1d 'Vacuum Oil', KGV 'Star' 1½d 'Metropolitan Board of Works', 1½d red 'Sandford & Co', 2d orange 'Brooks, Robinson & Co' plus many more later issues and also Victoria QV 1d 'OS' in die used 1923 with KGV 1d red punctured 'OS' added, Registration Envelopes including KGV 4d orange on buff NSW stock used 1916 to New Zealand with KGV 1d added, Aerogrammes with 'SPECIMEN' handstamps & used formular types, some postal history & postmark interest also, condition mixed but generally fine. Very good range with minimal duplication & substantial catalogue value makes this an excellent basis for expansion.

1914 (July) souvenir postcard AAMC #3 x2 carried Melbourne-Sydney by Maurice Guillaux each with 1d Kangaroo tied 'AUSTRALIAN/AERIAL MAIL/MELBOURNE/16-JUL-1914/VIC' oval d/s in violet and 'SYDNEY/18JL14/64' arrival datestamp alongside, also two WWI AIF covers including one from Sudan to Brigadier-General NM Smyth in France and three 1930s inwards airmail covers from Burma, France with perfins, & Indo-China via Bangkok, condition a little mixed but overall fine.
1930 (Feb 19) registered cover AAMC #151&152 carried on both outward & return leg of first flight of Australian Aerial Services Camooweal-Daly Waters (NT) route with KGV 2d brown, 1½d WA Swan, 3d Kooka & 2d Airmail tied 'REGISTERED ELIZABETH ST/15FE30/MELBOURNE' d/s plus red 'R' label & boxed 'LATE FEE' cachet, 'CAMOOWEAL/QUEENSLAND' (19.2 & 21.2) and 'DALY WATERS/NT' (20.2 & 21.2) transits the latter on face, fine condition, Cat $650. [AAMC states only 50 carried on outward leg & 30 on return with no mention of how many flown on both; the majority of the philatelic mail was carried on the second flight in March due to an error at the Darwin PO]
1931-46 Bass Strait flights extensive display collection including 1931 (Jan) Inaugural Flight AAMC #175 signed by "CKingsford Smith" & "E Chaseling" (Cat $950), 1931 (May) array including per favor cachet on unused OHMS cover, underpaid with 3d Air only & taxed, cachet in black (very scarce), 1931 (Sep) aborted resumption of service flight, 1932 (Dec 27) Woolnough Geological Expedition flight signed "WG Woolnough", 1933 (Mar 24) RAAF Survey Flight #298 with three signatures, 1933 (Dec 28) Sydney-Currie #349 signed "Nancy Bird", etc; a few commercial items including 1934 triple-rate Melbourne-Currie with KGV 1d & 1/- Large Lyrebird, 1935 'LADY BARRON'- Launceston, 1935 "Loina" crash plus roneo'd advice both with oval 'DISTRICT POSTAL INSPECTOR/ OCT 6 1935/LAUNCESTON' d/s; many registered including three with red/white 'WHITE MARK' error (two words) labels; many with flight/airline cachets &/or signed by the pilots; a few with faults but generally fine to very fine, high catalogue value. Album of picture postcards with 1914 Australian Imperial Expeditionary Force taxed with 'ALBANY/WESTN AUSTRALIA' cds & postage due, "Picadilly Suburb, Kalgoorlie" with 'MENZIES' duplex, & "St George's Terrace" with 'UP TRAIN/MG3/VICTORIA' cds, group of real photo cards including "Ormuz RMS at Hobart", marvellous truck being pushed uphill at Glenelg (SA) & car driving thru giant fig tree' at Yungaburra (Qld), then worldwide group with naval ships including Great White Fleet, also South African Zulus, glamour & humour, many of the latter used in Australia with States stamps & postmarks, condition mixed but many fine.
Batch of covers with Victorian 'RETURNED LETTER' Envelopes x4 (three registered), 1937 Launceston-Melbourne with boxed 'EXPRESS DELIVERY' h/s, inwards from USA with Postage Dues x3, 1939 to Germany with 'UNDELIVERABLE/...' h/s, etc, also WWII War Savings folder with 6d "Spitfire" x17, and four documents with British KGV 'CONSULAR/SERVICE' stamps to 7/6d x2 & 10/-, condition variable.
1912 cover to USA franked with ½d issues from all six States tied Sydney '-4AP12' datestamps slightly overpaying 2½d foreign letter rate, also cover to Malta with mixed franking of Tasmania Pictorial ½d green, NSW Arms 1d red and ½d grey-green and Victoria Bantam ½d green tied 'ULVERSTONE/MR4/12/TASMANIA' datestamps paying 2½d UPU rate. [ACSC states interchangeable use of States' stamps Australia-wide was permitted from 13.10.1910]
1915 commercial cover to Italy with Roos First Wmk 3d & Second Wmk (?) 2½d tied by Melbourne cdsof 28JL15, red/white registration label, very fine 'BOLOGNA-POSTA ESTERA/BACC-ASS' b/s, unusually not censored, minor blemishes. Scarce destination. [The Third Wmk 3d was issued in August 1915, the 2½d not until 1917]
1915 on cover to USA with Kookaburra 6d Engraved single franking tied 'REGISTERED/JA4/15/BENDIGO' cds with red 'R' label alongside paying 3d foreign letter rate plus 3d registration fee, 'SAN FRANCISCO CAL/FEB/3/1915/ REGISTRY SECTION' transit b/s in violet, couple of blemishes and edge faults but nevertheless very attractive, ACSC Cat $2500 on cover.
1917 commercial cover to the Canal Zone with Roos 2½d & 3d unusually on the reverse & tied by 'BRIGHTON/VIC' cds, red/white registration label, San Francisco New Orleans & Cristobal transits plus 'BALBOA HEIGHTS CZ/REGISTERED' arrival b/s. Another pretty cover.
1931 Manila-Japan flight cover signed "Francis Chichester", 1932 (Aug) Brisbane-Bendigo flight AAMC #279 signed by the pilot "WE Gardener" (only 12 carried; Cat $300), 1962 Tasmanian Hydro-Electric Commission septuple-rate airmail cover to Italy with £1 Arms + QE 1d (on the flap; & 2d missing), Belgian Congo 1932 commercial airmail to Italy, and two others.
1934 Swallow and Ariell's Biscuits & Cakes illustrated cover with Victorian Centenary 2d 'S&W' perfin single tied 'RELIEF STAMP VIC/-2NO34/14' cds used at Melbourne, fine condition.
