Description: LAKE LEFROY GOLDFIELD CYCLE MAIL: 1897 (Jan) 6d pink/greenish, good colour of both paper & printing, characteristic misaligned perforations, a couple of very shallow & insignificant thin spots, unused. Reynolds & Pope Census #M23 of the 41 unused examples recorded. One of the few examples that don't have significant faults, and one of the finest examples we have seen. [A very fine example - with selvedge at the base - Ex Peter Basterfield, sold for $6612 at our auction of 14/8/2010]
