Description: 1853 entire headed "Beverley Augt 15th 53" & signed "Ch Smith", to "Mr Keats/Fremantle" with poor strike of the undated '[crown]/POST OFFICE/YORK' h/s (#PA PO1c) & mss date "22 8 53" at lower-left, mss "2" in black, apparently used in legal proceedings marked "Exhibit II No" within & with 'LAND TITLES OFFICE/1MAY95/PERTH WA' cachet in violet on the face, soiling. Ex Dr Cecil Walkley: acquired for $552. [Charles Smith arrived from Tasmania on the "Orelia" on 12/10/1829 as agent for Walter Gellibrand. Between 1862 & 1876 he was postmaster at Mourambyne. Beverley is 34km SSE of York. PO opened 1/5/1858]. Ex Dr Cecil Walkley.
