Auction: 178 - Lot number: 257 << Previous   Next >>

Category: Postal History

Description: 1854 (c.) cover to Perth with a fine "Penny Black" rouletted pair tied by void grid cancels & very fine strike of the undated oval 'POST OFFICE/[crown]/SWAN/WESTERN AUSTRALIA' h/s, two ironed-out vertical folds clear of the stamps and postmarks. Most appealing. BPA Certificate (2010) states that the roulettes have been faked & that the pair may not belong to the cover. A punter might seek a second opinion!

Listed in: Early Imperforate Stamps , Postmarks , WESTERN AUSTRALIA , AUSTRALIAN COLONIES General , Postal History , AUSTRALIA
