Description: 1834 (April 15) lengthy cross-written entire to an oil merchant in England with boxed 'INDIALETTER/BRIGHTON' b/s & London arrival cds of 4DE4/1834 in red, rated "2/-" but amended to "1/8", stained & soiled & extensive internal repairs/reinforcing. still presentable. Ex Dr Cecil Walkley: acquired for $747. [Between late-1833 and mid-1841 there were no postal implements in use at Perth. The writer, Barnard Clarkson, states "...whale fishing...shld be a proffitable concern here there are many whalers off this coast". Clarkson arrived 27/1/1833 on the "Cygnet", & died at York in 1836]
