Description: 1854 (April) cover to England "By Overland route" with light but obvious strike of the undated Perth h/s in red & a light strike of the rare oval '___/[crown]/WESTERN AUSTRALIA/PAID' h/s (#Pd 1 with 'SHIP LETTER' removed) in red, London transit backstamp in red & superb 'BRIGHTON' arrival backstamp in blue, central stain. Carried per "Chusan" from Albany 4/4/1854; "Hindoostan" from Galle 28/4/1854; & "Simla" from Alexandria. Ex Dr Cecil Walkley: acquired for $862. [PMI records the recut h/s in 1854 only]
