Description: 1875 (Oct 4) cover to France with Perf 12 2d yellow & 6d violet SG 55 & 57 tied by bold 15-bar '2' cancels & Perth cds at lower-left, 'P.D.' h/s, the addressee's name obliterated, minor blemishes. Pope & Reynolds Census #25. The rate was 8d via Alexandria & Malta. Ex Dr Cecil Walkley: acquired for $862. [Dr Walkley states that the 'P.D.' h/s (= Paid to Destination) was applied at Perth. As the cover did not go via England, that would seem to be correct]
