Description: 1908 Franco-British Exhibition cards with imprint 'Designed and Printed by John Vail, Government Printer, Tasmania' comprising "A Tasmanian Timber Mill" (corner fault), "An Apple Trophy", "British and Foreign Woolbuyers...", "Carting Blackwood Logs...", "Hauling Timber Through Forest", "Hop-Picking at New Norfolk" (one of only two Franco-British cards recorded used in-period , with Ulverstone cds of JU29/08), "Hydraulic Tin-Sluicing", "Magnet Silver Mine...", "Mount Lyell Smelters...", "Orchards in the Glenorchy Valley", "Packing Rabbits...", "Packing Stores for the Mines", "Preparing Poultry...", (large corner repair), and "Tasmania Gold Mine, Beaconsfield", some blemishes on the address-sides but generally fine to very fine. It is believed that 24 designs were printed, of which 23 have been identified. [As long ago as the 1970s, these cards routinely sold for $200+ each] (Qty 14)
