Description: QUEENSLAND - BRISBANE: Inwards mail with Nov 1940 from Singapore; Dec 1940 by air from Persia; Nov 1941 from Brazil to Dutch Indies received at Brisbane after the Japanese invasion of the NEI with ' 1 /RETURN/TO/SENDER/ 4 ' cachet in red & forwarded to the Sydney DLO where superb 'NOT TRANSMISSIBLE/SERVICE SUSPENDED' cachet applied in violet; Feb 1941 registered FDC of Papuan 1/6d Airmail, 1941 mission cover from Madang with ' 1 /NOT/OPENED BY/CENSOR/ 7 ' cachet, June 1943 mission cover from Mount Hagen with New Guinea 2d & 'AIF FIELD PO/No 12' cds used at Port Moresby; and covers from the Australian Forces in Papua x2 & American Force on New Britain x4 (one overweight & taxed) all with '1'-in-circle h/s; generally fine to very fine.
