Category: LETTER CARDS - 1911 KGV Fullface 1d with the first line of text ending "...any"

Description: DIE PROOFS: Samuel Reading's Fullface 1d design in brownish grey - not 'grey-brown' as in the ACSC - literally on a scrap of paper (127x102mm) from a form letter! ACSC #P1(DP2), light inconsequential soiling, folded for insertion in a non-contemporary mount (which is included), Cat $10,000. Unique! Ex Samuel Reading and Dr Leslie Abramovich. [The ACSC records six die proofs across three entries. Two of them are in the Australia Post Archives. This example is a progressive proof: compare with the next lot. Cooke was notorious for pulling die proofs on whatever scraps of paper happened to be to hand!]

Listed in: proofs , Scenic Postal Cards , Postal Stationery - Letter Cards , Postal Stationery , AUSTRALIA

Estimate: AUD$ 5000.00
