Description: 1870 First Specimen Issue complete set of Type 1 (Small Designs) or Type 2 (Large Designs) sans-serif diagonal overprints comprising De La Rue 1d 2d 4d & 10d, and Perkins Bacon 3d 5d 6d 8d 1/- & 5/- Coin, plus extra 6d 8d 10d 1/- & 5/- each stated to have a slightly longer overprint, most without gum, generally fine to very fine. Ex Ray Chapman - on his annotated page - Bill McCredie & John Bell. [John Bell also noted a discrepancy of about ˝mm in the length of the overprint. However, we have concluded that the length varied only because of the relative force of application] (Qty 15)
