Description: PROPAGANDA FORGERIES: Germany 1944 24+26pf 'Und Ihr Habt Doch Gesiegt' forgery with portrait of Field Marshal Erwin von Witzleben titled 'GEHANGT AM 8.AUG.1944' Mi 29, some gum discolouration, unmounted; plus an example of the stamp on which it was based for comparison, Cat 800. The original inscription 'And Yet You Have Won' - ironically retained on the forgery - refers to the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch. von Witzleben was a key player in the Operation Valkyrie failed assassination attempt on Hitler's life on 20.7.1944. He was executed by hanging on 8.8.1944. (Qty 2)
