Auction: 117 - Lot number: 306 << Previous   Next >>

Description: ONE PENNY 1916 1d red Die 2 showing Cracked Die variety (white spur above 'E' of 'PENNY'), for Whybrow & Co (cobblers; imprint on flap) commercially used at Melbourne, the stamp impression cancelled by pencil as the machine impression largely missed the embossing, flap fault. [Sometimes erroneously called "Die 1a". As there are 5 distinguishable dies, Menuz' listing of only two dies is rather misleading]

Auction Category: Envelopes - PTPO Issues 1916-20 "Star" without POSTAGE
