Description: 1921 commercial cover to Germany with d 2d pair & 2d tied by 'RABAUL/15FE21' cds, mss "R1230" in red, very late usage of 'OPENED BY CENSOR' tape & the vertical-oval 'PASSED BY CENSOR/No.1/AN&MEF' h/s in violet, opened again in Germany where currency control label affixed & tied to reverse by 'POSTUBERWACHUNGSSTELLE/[arms]/MUNCHEN' cachet & to face by 'Nachgesandt' h/s both in violet. A marvellous cover. [The foreign letter rate was raised to 4d on 1/10/1920. The sender's address is given as "LBeck, Kavieng/New-Guinea/N.W. Pacific-Islands", an expression rarely seen except on the stamps, which were actually intended for use in the Carolines, Marianas & Marshalls and NOT in New Guinea, to which the NWPI appelation was never officially applied. Even this late, censorship was still applied to mail for Germany from former German nationals]
