Description: 'C/of/A' Perfins: 1912-24 Royal Cypher KGV 1d red 'H16' control block of six perforated 'C/of/A' (inverted on the upper units), the third unit re-attached, creased across the upper units. Also an accompanying Australian Military Office letter - some toning - to General Selheim: "Please find specimens of the special stamps issued to A.I.F Hospitals for use by soldier inmates".

An enclosed extract from the Australian Philatelist (July 1916) states: "The 1d value at least is used [by] Australian Soldiers in hospital in England. Six stamps per week are allowed by the Commonwealth Government to each wounded soldier".
