Description: 1871 soiled cover to England with 3d brown pair tied by 'Q.L'-in-Rays cancel of 'LEYBURN' (very fine cds at left), small Brisbane transit & superb 'FERRY-HILL' arrival backstamps. [Leyburn was an anomaly: it was issued with a 'QL' obliterator instead of a numeral. Cowan & Dell speculated about a Type 1a cds but gave no dates]
