Auction: 178 - Lot number: 375 << Previous   Next >>

Description: 1912 Intermediate Die (22x18mm) 1d deep carmine on rough unsurfaced wove stock EN7, to Sydney with poor Sandstone cds of DEC12, ironed-out vertical fold & a couple of minor repaired opening tears. Rare & underrated. [Brian Pope lists the 1912 printing but doesn't note that it is in a distinct shade, on a different type of paper, or that the die is of an intermediate size. These three factors are all important for identifying these rare envelopes, of which no unused example, and only a few used examples have been recorded]
